Thank you ivan141 and Alpina99. I should mention the metal doughnut shape is not something I made! That was an off the shelf repair panel . Not much progress to report, but I did manage to get a few minutes to weld in the repair to the floor under the jacking point (the area I'd cut out last time) and to then weld on a replacement jacking point. I'm hoping to round up some friends later in the week and will flip the car over on to its other side so I can access the passengers side spring mount and inner rear wheel arch, which are the last remaining underfloor sections to repair. Hopefully then it won't be too long till it can go right way up and I can take a look at these rear arches.

Life has been a bit busy, so not much has happened on the Fiat, and I’m only just getting round to having a browse of the forums and doing a few updates! Picking up where I left off, a few days later I was able to turn the car over on to its other side with the help of a friend, and was faced with almost exactly the same mess on the other rear spring mount area. It’s a bit boring doing exactly the same repair on both sides of the car, but at least I knew how it would layer up and where to start. I soon got it cleaned off and had the rust cut out. And made a near identical set of repair sections to the other side. The next evening I started welding them in, and was making steady progress… … at which point my wife went into labour. So tools were downed and I’ve not had chance to pick them up again since! So small Fiat has to take the backseat for a bit, but I’m hoping it won’t be too long till I can start grabbing a few minutes here and there to go out and do a bit of work on it. Part of the plan when I purchased the car was that it would be something I could just potter at slowly when I had some spare moments, and something to escape to once in a while once the small people were born. So it’s going to be a slower build and I’m just going to try and enjoy each session working on it for its own merit, rather than racing towards the finish line like I normally would

When you say "small people" do you mean more than one? Congratulations, looks like I won't be the only one with a child seat in the back of a MK2 Jag/Damiler at shows from now on, it gets some funny looks!

Cheers gents, and yes homersimpson, twins so going to have very full hands. Rear seat belts are on my list to investigate. And yes, sleep is the number one priority for now! Hopefully it won’t be that way forever! Haha.

Congratulations on the arrival of twins…..🙂
If this (these) are your first, fair to say you will notice a few lifestyle changes 😳
Could take a while to finish the Fiat.
Best of luck anyway, my Grandmother used to reckon the first 20 years are the worst……

Congratulations, I wouldn't be without them but at 24 and 19 mine still seem to rule our house! Yeah. Of ours, "Dog" has moved out aged 25, probably for good, though his room still looks like he'll be back later this evening and I've still got some large lumps of his tat in the garage. "Cat", aged 22, is still here and enjoying his staff...... though he does go walkabout from time to time. Twins.... jeez..... Nick
