I haven't really been on here for a good while (nice update BTW HoTWire), as I haven't had anything even remotely retro since I sold my Accord Type R. However I'm hopeful that with some sensible decisons this year and a little bit of luck, I might be able to buy something next year that I can really love and be proud of. Therefore I thought I'd start a thread with what I'm looking at in the near future, and why. And then maybe others can join in too so we can all have something to look forward to in this rather curse word time! DC2 Integra Type R Owned one, loved it, it got a bit rusty, sold it. I generally have a rule of never owning the same model twice (as there's far too many cars out there to try!) but they really are special so I might make an exception. Nothing else I've driven has come close to the involvement and sheer ability of a 20 year old FWD Japanese coupe. Only problem is, they are rapidly increasing to silly values, and I suspect by this time next year it's be £15k plus for a decent one, which is a little mad for a 20 year old FWD Japanese coupe. Alpina E39 B10 Never been a huge fan of BMWs, but love Alpinas. Work that one out. Very different from an Integra, but variety is the spice of life etc etc. E39's are meant to be one of the best BMW's ever made, and sprinkled with some Alpina magic I think they look fantastic. I do like a bit of luxury, but also imagine it would a little like a German muscle car. Would be happy with either the V8 or straight six. Seem to be plenty for sale, given their relative rarity. But I suspect would need to buy wisely to avoid big bills. TVR Chimaera Again, very different. But another car I've always wanted and still seem to carry a sensible price tag. I'd have mine in a bright colour and a lairy exhaust. Probably the most fragile of the 3, but there's always loads for sale so hopefully would be able to pick up a decent one. This is definitely the most mid-life crisis of the 3, but there's just something so cool about TVRs, and the performance on offer for the price is pretty unbeatable. So, what's everyone else got on their attainable wish list?

Attainable?? Not overpriced then that’s good for me ! I really want an absolutely mint W202 mercedes not everyone’s cup of tea But I absolutely love these cars massively underrated And a great car for sensible money ...at the moment that is I’m hoping to buy an excellent one early next year .... But I’ve also applied for another job within my company if I get the job a company vehicle is included So I could quite possibly buy another luxury barge for weekend use Aj16 engined Jaguar XJ would be my choice I’ve owned both the XJ8 and the 6, but I prefer the xj6 just a better engine in my humble opinion

Don’t really want to admit to it...... Really disturbed by this Literally in the weeds Wide wheels, bodywork. Something Japanese....... Something Random. Either too powerful or simply quirky. In the mean time, the Rezin Rockit is scratching a significant itch, and at this point certainly feels like a keeper.

W126 Mercedes. 500SEL or 560SEL. Must be fully loaded and have a velour interior with the stripey bolsters: Upsettingly I missed the boat on them when they were cheap...

I reckon these are still quite cheap at the moment, the b5 model Audi S4 They're an interesting enough car with a tunable 2.7 twin turbo v6. Plenty to play around with. They do sound good as well. www.ebay.co.uk/itm/203137868266

Inspired by the post above, ever since I can remember knowing what a car was, I always wanted an XJS, saw one wafting along a road and it just looked so effortless and sleek. A Facelift 4.0L Coupe for me, probably in the darker Red with cream interior. I fear I have missed the boat on these price wise, when they were dirt cheap. Much the same with the Triumph GT6 that I 'should' have bought years ago! Other than that, there is a long term desire for a Triumph 2500S Estate on 15" Revolutions or TR6 Steels, in a Damson Red but you would have to take whatever colour was less rust these days! And then revisiting a Gen-5 Celica, this time a full-fat GT4, ideally looking as OEM as possible.

For me there have always been a short list of cars that are high on my list. Most I have owned one or more at some point. I have always liked the Scimitar GTE & after owning a few know they all tend to have their issues and are a marmite car with people either loving them or hating them but have had pretty much every different model of scimitar now so wont be getting another. Another that I have owned a few of are the W202 C class Mercedes. Owned a C200, C280 and a C250td. Would love another at some point as I think they are a highly underrated car & in a lot of ways more Mercedes than any of the C classes that have followed. I always wanted a XR2 in my younger days but could just never afford the insurance costs when the cars were new/current. Did manage to buy a XR2 before the prices started to go skyward but it wasn't a great example & rust soon got the better of it. I would have another but with the prices thats unlikely. Would still love a Peugeot 309 GTI as a weekend plaything. Back in the day bought a 309 diesel as a daily runaround as was doing quite high mileage. Fitted it with Koni uprated suspension & lowered the rear torsion bars. Made for quite a fun but economical car. Wasn't that quick but once upto speed could be hustled along at a surprising rate. I moved jobs and wasn't doing anywhere near the same mileage so the diesel economy wasnt that important. Bought a 309GTI locally that had quite tired suspension. Swapped the Koni's from the diesel 309 to the GTI & it transformed the car. Why I sold the 309GTI I will never know. Didn't need the money at the time and had the space to keep it too. Would love another but way prices are going can't see that happening.

I always wanted an Allegro, and bought one earlier this year.
Next on my list is a Porsche 924, and frustratingly there's a rather nice one in the for sale section, just need to sell the Allegro now!

I don't have the means at the moment, but I would LOVE one of these. A 500 SL in red, or light blue metallic.

But, if I am being more realistic, a Series 3 Landie. In Landie Blue, with a pick up cab. Note - I have no need for a Landie, nor anywhere to put it. But when did that stop us??

The family want a day van, realisticaly it would have to be something diesel I'm thinking SWB front wheel drive Transit as I know them inside out but prices for anthing which hasn't been to the moon and back or isnt full of rust are pretty strong at the moment. My son is also talking about a defender, so probably lots of welding.
Biggest problem is space though,we have 7 cars already.

XJS prices are rising fast - buy now before it's too late. N/A Porsche 944s also seem to be tremendous value at the moment. First and foremost they are cars you can enjoy, but I reckon they'll also be good investments to boot . . . .
