So I may have agreed to buy vitessetony's lowering springs! Didn't take much persuasion 😅 I'm wondering if anyone has had any luck changing XJ springs themselves on the driveway? I'm seeing lots of information regarding special tooling required and that normal spring compressors won't cut it? Any one have any insight? Just need to know if I need to keep saving the pennies and get my mechanic friend to do it or if it's worth having a bash on the drive? I have access to other cars so if I hit problems it's not the end of the world but I don't want it out of action long as I love driving so much!

You have the breaking strain of a wet kit kat Dave! If I remember rightly there is a special tool to get the fronts off safely, the backs are just a normal affair I think, don't quote me though, I let a Jaguar specialist who had the kit do it on mine.

Not an exciting update but I like to keep threads updated even if it's just for future reference! Changed the oil today - looking at the colour... It needed it! Out with the old In with the new

It looks great Dave, looking at your old springs they were definatley due to be changed, unless that was an attempt at ghetto lowering!? I've run out of Jag bits now except for a set of XJR alloys, sorry mate

Yeah - it just went through the mot like that too! In the defence, the snapped boys were tucked right up but still... It drives better now!
It's a good thing you're out of Jag bits now 😂 it's also good that i bought wheels for it recently because I do love those xjr wheels 😂😂

In the spirit of keeping the thread up to date as a bit of a diary, I've replaced the front wheel bearings and had some welding done in some suspect areas so it's nice and solid underneath.
I need to check the chain tensioners are OK, although someone said that, being an 02, they should be strong ones?

So.... I've resigned from my job as it has been making me mentally ill and I decided that work-life balance and family are more important than my wages. I have taken a job that pays much less that starts in September and as such I've had to make the decision to move my beautiful Jag on as I won't be able to afford to run it ðŸ˜
This one's going to hurt as it's my favourite Jag by far and it's really going in the right direction in terms of mods etc.
Watch the classifieds for an advert in the coming days or just PM me if you want to skip all of that.

Sometimes it has to be done for your own sake. Only you know your circumstances, but can you not just park the Jag up for a bit? I know when I had no work here for nearly two years and things were getting pretty desperate, Madam played merry hell with me when I mentioned selling the Range Rover. Couldn't afford to fuel it but I could wash it and do odd, low cost jobs. Glad I kept it though. Anyway, best of luck whatever happens.

Cheers, mate I'd love to keep it but I'll have to sell it to release the funds to replace it. I have the little Eunos that I could daily but it has harnesses and bucket seats and gets a bit much after a week or so.. That's why I'm looking at cars that will be exceptional on fuel to make it worth it.
