So this car has been with me a while - I did advise the owner that it would take some time and it would have to be treated has a background hospital type job - i.e it will have to be bit & pieced in-between other major restoration works on other clients cars
So it comes to me forfitting up problem solving - to date its been fully stripped & welded up by one company - then painted by another - then the owner has come to put it together and only got so far - basically the doors don't fit the apertures
I know exactly what's gone wrong - whoever did the welding never braced the B posts when removing the sills & jacking points for replacement and has just assumed that the B post is sort of in the correct location - thing is both the front & rear doors hang off the same hinge bracket & pin - get the B post 5mm out of alignment and you have no chance of making the doors fit
Then the paint shop never thought to check the door or panel fits either and proceeded to apply a nice (non original) brown metallic paint to the car of which they made a decent job - its a shame that I'm going to have correct the structure of the car with a cutting / welding / grinding process to correct the problems which in turn means it will require some repainting - how much I'm not quite sure yet until I get into it
But the owner would like the car completing / fitted up / commissioned & on the road - its got several mods - frenched in rear lights, relocated fuel filler, some dash & gauge changes, non original colour and a custom interior in the respect that it follows the original pattern but in a non original spec colourway
Now whilst I don't have current workshop capacity (but there are things happening in the background on the parts requirements / parts preparation front) but
Mrs GN has capacity before she runs off to the circus - hence 9 parcels from one supplier arrived today - that represents all the interior trimming materials for this car
And she is already running with it
The flutes on this particular car running vertical rather than horizontal has they did on the last Javelin that we trimmed
Flutes yet to be stuffed
So this is the base of the rear seat well on its way
So it comes to me for
