I'm slightly concerned I knew it was Moll's Gap from the thumbnail... I've only been over it once.
Awesome.

Small blue car, big cage, mid engine, white wheels. Why do I like this car.....oh yes, cos it is just like mine. Pity I couldnt have found a project like this, would have saved me a lot of time. Will keep watching this one.

When finished drive it like this Just had an eargasm over that - three top engine sounds in my opinion are Rolls Royce Merlin, EE 12CSVT and 6R4 V6, but not necessarily in that order! I will be following this build closely!

Mines only RWD ...for now One of the musings I pitched for one of my mate's 106 GTi shells was a mid-engined AWD '106 T16' type thing. Went through a few permutations trying to find something that would work. Never quite found a solution, but it's one of those things that definitely feels doable. The front diff and driveshafts is easy to sort (just get a RWD diff and run it upside-down). For you it would be even easier as you could just swap the MGF front subframe for a Metro one with splined hubs for driveshafts (and Metro driveshaft splines fit straight into Subaru R160 inner CVs). The tricky bit is finding a gearbox to work at the back. You could use a Subaru AWD gearbox as these guys make a reverse-cut ring and pinion setup so you can spin the driven direction around. However, that would mean the engine hanging out of the back and I'm not sure there's space for it on a Metro. Option 2 for that is to find an AWD gearbox for a car with a transverse engine. You could spin that around and have the propshaft facing forwards, but you'd need to pull the same reverse cwp setup which is where things would get technical. Option 3 is to keep the transverse AWD gearbox pointing in the right direction with the prop coming out of the back, and have a gear or chain driven box to transfer drive to an area where you can run the prop forwards. Gear drive would mean right-way-up front diff, chain drive would mean upside-down (chain drive would probably be better). Option 4 is to shift the engine forward, have it longitudinal and run a gearbox with a transfer case like a Sierra 4x4. Rear of the transfer case gets bolted directly to a rear diff, and the front gets a propshaft to the upside-down front diff. All a little unnecessary as a mid-rear Metro is stone cold awesome anyway, but if you did fancy an AWD one there should be a way to do it

Pic of an idea I had for a front half of the car.

Awesome project. Why did the previous owner sell it? Looks like a lot of time was put in it already.

Having watched the full video series, the previous owner was doing it as a side project while running a garage business. He wound the business up and went back to an office job, so I guess the usual problem of lack of money/space/time/tools* and the amount of work needed meant it was better off going elsewhere. The videos are worth watching as he explains a lot of his decisions and provides a decent commentary as he goes. *Delete as applicable. As a 6R4 rep this would be awesome.
