3 years to the day of arrival I finally got the truck down the pub I worked out a way to re-mount the front anti roll bar , so it wasn't to low this week , which helps the front sit much better, now for the back one which I'm hoping will be easier as there's a lot more room back there to work with, lots other jobs need finishing off and get some more paint on it before I top coat it all in the proper red tracking is way out to but I made it for a pint

Raptor'd the bed the other day when it was sunny, first time i have used it and its pretty good and you can tint it to, that's the proper Ford red that the rest will be painted in when I get chance, the rest has had coat of red oxide for now to get it all sorta one colour, Also working through the little jobs, changing out the tilt hardware for stainless stuff and painting bits I missed, wired up the exhaust cut out valve's, some more hangers on the rear exhaust to help keep it tucked out the way, made some new track rods outa EN24T tracking still needs a tweak and I have lent my tracking gauges to some one and they never returned them ! its a bit big to take to the tyre place down the road so will have to work something out

Been doing a bit of work to make the interior a bit more finished as there is a local car show this weekend and hopefully take the truck for its first proper outing, made some cab matts out of the rubber mat from the running boards and covered the door panels in some left over Mexican blanket to match the bench seat, Also some old Eagle comics now make the roof look a bit better designed up some longer spikes for the read wheels and my mate next door brought this old Ford truck back off someone that never got round to it , real low mileage and was used on an airbase in Scotland with a big fan on the back to cool down Vulcan electronics apparently, would make a nice camper

Those letters are a very personal thing.
And also work on some stuff, and not on others.
Depending on the scene that one tries to emulate or are part of.
I think in this case a pic further back for perspective may help as well.

Made it to a breakfast meet last Saturday , it was only down the road and rainy but it made it ! My friend Graham @ FBI VW made this Westfailia wide bed crew cab as them never made crew cab version , pretty kool my friend in his Chevy pick up followed me down the road, just in case and it drove straight and true, so all that double checking the measurement must of worked. Just a couple of noises driving down the road but think it was just the planks in the rear that i haven screwed down with rivnuts yet , got another Ranger steering set up and some tube to sort out the steering lock issue next also borrowed it to move house this week, my COE wouldn't fit down the lane by my old house but I have measured out the drive and should fit on the new driveway just,

Aaaahhhhh…..
The Gremlin that is off street parking in the U.K.
I did not measure the new van, well, I kinda checked on the gate, and you can get down my alleyway with one mirror tucked in, but it won’t fit with both, so now I just tuck both, look out the window at the fence 3-4 inches away and keep praying.
I will not do it in the dark, but daytime or even early evening is fine.
Where I live, every second house has a wide drive (mine is the wide option, the others take a Micra/Polo.
I think it goes back 100 years when one side got the hedge so gained a bit.

Same with many of the houses round here, in the 1930's a Austin 7 or similar was what someone who owned a 3 bed semi would aspire to, our parking space out the front is 12 feet long and according to the council too small to qualify as a parking space, the ka,TR7 minor and mx5 fit on it fine the new fiesta is sqeeze.

Absolutely epic! So happy to see you get out in this and have a little shakedown run.
Did the motor behave itself after the work you did on it?
It looks absolutely sensational parked on the deck, top work chap, it's come a long way!!!

Thanks man, yeah motor seems great & pulls nice and everything , the new Holley 4 barrel came with some different springs for the vac secondaries, so can try them later on to see what difference they make on MPG and performance, once I have sorted the steering lock issue I will start to take it a little further each time and see how it behaves, bit late this yer now but hoping that all the little niggles will be worked out and sorted for next years show

Looking superb!
What steering rack are you going to use with the Mustang II setup?
Love the patina on that F1
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
thanks Ralph , I've got a manual mustang II rack for it, the power one was just to much money when I looked and hoping the manual will be ok as it's a lot lighter the the COE, The patina sold the F1 to me , I knew under the surface rust it would come up great with some elbow grease and linseed oil and it didn't disappoint, I wish the COE still had its original patina but I suppose I would of had to paint the new rear bed anyways, So I'm gonna use the F1's patina as a guide to get the COE right hopefully oh and I brought some wheels for it friday to

Ah nice, yeah I can't see a manual rack being an issue. Even with some chonky tyres on the front of the Mav now, the manual steering is absolutely spot on to drive with!
Saw a sneak look at the new wheels on IG... Much like.

I've read all of this over the last couple of days. Absolutely brilliant. Thanks man, I looked back at a few things the other day to and almost forgot how long this journey has been so far I've got the steering apart again at the moment to try and get some more lock and get the track rods at a better angle,
