I've got a Holley Sniper 2 barrel (Ford) sat on the shelf in my workshop, had it fitted to my Maverick for about a year but it was chucking in way too much fuel for my tiny engine, so now dropped down to a 1 barrel and it's running sweet...
If you want to mess about with a 2 barrel unit, i'm sure we can work something out.

its in.. Well on some blocks of wood, but its sorta in the right place but the steering rack had to come out, unfortunately so now gotta rethink the steering, hoping I can mount it behind the front sump bulge and the arms will come out in line better with the spindles, Also the prop is now to sort but shouldn't cost much to make the front bit longer and rebalance it, Gonna knock up some mounts today in between jobs in work, looks like I can just unbolt the rear gearbox mount and move it forward and flip it around to make that work and I stuck the headers on and they miss everything just which is nice..

Remember the old Okie Cokie ? That's what it been like the past few weekends with the new engine, in and out shake it all about, Probably 30 odd times in and out, what with making new mounts, cross members, Distributor oil pump drive issues etc etc but it does sound good , with the pretty high compression and no exhaust It does get quieter with the flow master boxes on though. and will exit in front of the back wheels in the arches with a nice slash cut end with some HASBO cut outs coming out under the cab to I did take the Datsun to a Porsche OutLaw night last week to This out dude said my 240z was RaD, Really nice bloke with a load of time to talk cars and stuff with people to, when I told him I had a few old Porsche's before the Z he wanted to know how I thought they compared and was genuinely interested, It didn't make The Weekender this year again, but I have been caring for my mum for the past year or so while trying to work and build the truck, that's why its been a it slow with the updates and 2 months ago I lost her and I've been a bit lost ever since, But Getting the engine in and going has given me a bit of a boost and hopefully I will get it out this summer Now to get the prop shaft off and modified to fit , needs another 7" and reinvent the steering, it does look like the rack will fit between the new braces and with a bit off the steering column will meet up in the right place.

Motor looks great sat in the truck, so much room for activities!
Really sorry to hear the news, some summer cruising would be good for the soul.
Mr Walker is a cool dude, I bumped into him in the Dr Martins store in New York a few years back haha nice genuine bloke.
Looking forward to seeing some shots of the COE rolling down the road!

As people have said above, condolences, never easy. Glad you had your priorities straight.
Kind of sad that the RR engine is no more but can see that the ford mill makes more sense.
Hope you get this out and about soon to enjoy the two weeks of summer !

Been off this week to move house but have had a few hours on the truck, So why not take the engine back out LOL, the gearbox wasn't playing the game, not pumping , well I found out why , In hindsight I should of stripped it but was told it was all good, torque convertor is toast as it the pump gear and the gear housing , found a nice bloke that has a spare and ordered up a master rebuild kit with new clutches etc and a new higher stall torque convertor, might as well build it properly now, It has got a 'R' servo though..... I did do a quick retrim on the bench seat with the ole Mexican blanket, fitted the new B&M cable shifter and picked up my new longer prop shaft , also spent last weekend 'reinventing' the steering , its now back on a steering box , a mix of Mercedes and Ford Ranger bits & it does go up and down with no bump steer...... it was nice to do something different for the usual activity of taking the engine out...........LOL

You are going to have to start putting notches on the steering wheel or something for how many times the motor has been in and out haha
Really positive steps forwards though, once that gearbox is buttoned up it sounds like it may be ready to do a little bit of driving!!!!!!!!

I know dude, I have stopped counting now though as I really don't wont to know the amount of times it gone in and out , I do enjoy building this truck, but some times it just seems that its fighting me every step of the way! but I tend to see it as a challenge to over come rather than let it get to me and treat every bit as a new opportunity not a chore, which I tell myself helps... I painted the headers, now all the paint has burnt off and then wrapped them yesterday, ( which would of been a pain if the engine wasn't out lol) Should keep the bay temps down a bit now, also went over to Pendine Saturday for a day off to the VHRA drags in the Datsun , Only StarWars fans will notice the new museums resemblance to something.. Master rebuild kit turned up Saturday to , also my new recon pump , but it he sent me an early one by mistake so that's going back and he's sent out the right one this morning, another challenge , Torque convertor should be arriving today , hopefully that's right I need to make some new track rods to go from Ford Ranger inner track rods to the rose joints on using, So ordered up some EN24T today to make them out of a bit of screw cutting and some flats and should be good to go, There is the Gower brewery at the end of the industrial estate by me, I would be so over the moon if I could just drive it down there on a Friday evening to the 'Tap' night for a pint and then back to my yard with no drama's It may be to soon to say, but maybe Just maybe this week is the week....

First test drive completed, Can confirm nothing fell off and the steering is heavy as curseword, I think it looks pretty epic on the road though Always forget how big it is outside the shed its been in for nearly 3 years next finish off plumbing in the power steering pump by making up some adapters, sort the tracking out and a whole list of other bits I need to do now it actually moves pretty dam happy though

we now have some locker on the other side , so much easier now I can drive it in and out the workshop to work on, also I made some adapters so the power steering works to , that's better that side looked weird after looking at the other side for a couple of years, finish the ends of the rear bumper and welded the canvas tie downs on that side to, I got carried away with the red oxide to, I'm thinking the more colours that are on it under the final coat of Ford (MAC 5 E3) VERMILION RED when I rub through here and there is should look more real ? well at least it will help protect it with a good few coats of paint on it anyways been thinking of some retro strips down the side, to break it up a bit , will have to see what it looks like when its all together and red but like the idea of the old VW bay window one is I've seen, need to get on paint again
