managed to get down workshop today after yesterdays festivities Been coming up with a plan to support the running boards but still be able to unbolt them like all the other bits of the bed , so it can all be taken off if needed, 2 bits of thick walled box section drilled and tapped as a spacer to drop it down level with the running board they bolt up through the box section and through the bed side brackets to , I can now jump up and down on them, so they must be strong hope its dry for tomorrows jobs

got the rear panel in today , need to chop the bottom of the bed sides down to match , was gonna make a recess for the plate but put a plate and frame on and think it looks all right, maybe a bit to much with a recess i reckon ? there's also a recess all along the top of the panel to hide the reverse led light & extra brake light in If it stands out to much I will put a piece of perpex in front of it to hide out the way . I do like the look of the new stuff with a light all the way across the back , but when its all light up with the round lights on each end , it might look curse word but so will see

I wonder if anyone has a 1954 Ford number plate surround to donate to the cause.
I will take a look in my garage in a few minutes and see if in my stash or display, I have something interesting, or appropriate to offer you for your build.
Of course only if it works for you, i think I have one made up of chromed bones and possibly skulls.

Thanks Grizz , funny enough I have been trawling eBay in the US , this morning trying to find a old Ford dealer surround from Seattle or Quincey, Washington state , as that's where it's from , then I got thinking about Rolls Royce and Bentley dealer plates , for the connection with the V8 in it , any plates surrounds would be good ,I borrowed that mooneyes one from the bloke next door to try it out , Just having a coffee trying to decide if I like the light in the middle Reverse lights pretty good though

Assuming that is the third brake light, it looks a bit low to me .... cracking reversing light though

Just came in to use the toilet.
Then back to cutting 5 complex gusset templates CAD style.
May 9” grinder cut the steel too if I have time.
I found two surrounds of which both may or may not work.
Will upload pics later.

Assuming that is the third brake light, it looks a bit low to me .... cracking reversing light though I had a tape on it earlier there 2ft off the floor now, but when the bags are up that's 3ft . might put a brake light higher up like in the cab back window to.

There you go. These are from my collection, I am happy to keep them, but if you want to use one of them on the truck, let me know and I am very happy to pop it in the post to you. I have Porsche etc, but not quite right for the truck. Rear end looks very bright now.

Just been reading through this and there are so many brilliant solutions and some serious fabrication! That handbrake setup is awesome!! Definitely bookmarking!

Thanks for your kind offer Grizz , I like the 'Hit me I need the money' one, but I think I have managed to sort some out though, found a cheap old Rolls Royce/Bentley Dealer plate surround from the USA but over here ,

been looking at hidden cable's for the tailgate , using stainless wire hidden inside the box section with a weight on the end to pull it back in but today I have 5 mins so made these like the og ones ,nearly, these will do for now to stop the tailgate dropping right down , can always work on the hidden ones later, also had some plate out the scrap bin so cut some chassis notch plates , only needs to go down another 2" and i should be happy with the way it sits , only thing is I will need to move the cross member that holds the inner 4 links up a bit to miss the prop at full drop as it looks like it will be pretty close , I've ordered a couple of boxes of waterproof electrical connectors to for all the wiring to, so I can do it properly with the new loom i have waiting

On my model A I wanted to run the chains through flexible rubber tube to prevent them rattling and causing damage. Bicycle inner tube proved perfect 🙂
