Today I took the air ride control apart and the star trek communicator apart and looks like I can make it work, maybe have to lose the sound board thou, Also modelled up a quick handbrake mech and cut it out of scrap Perspex to test fit for size etc.. looked alright apart from my teeth are to big , well until I tried it in the truck ... Had the flip the racket bit around so it fits as the dog house is in the way but a bit of tweaking and it should be ok and it means THE (todo) LIST is getting shorter to,

Done a bit on the exhaust today for a change, all 3" stainless and have a valve to go on the Y-split to by pass the box , but not sure how much the box will really quiet it down anyways but its about the biggest I could get to fit in the gap, , hoping to have the waste pipe come out next to the 3" in the side of the step but may have to use that flexi stainless stuff to get it there, quite like th idea of the big 3" outlet nd the little 40mm waste outlet next to it. just like a F40 haha, well the truck will be red so its nearly there , There's not much room to get it to where i need it to be ,especially when its on the floor so I don't squash it all Test fitted the handbrake mech and I had to much swing so nearly hit the dash and the seat So this is MK2 Now the handle has less throw but can adjust the arm that goes to the main cable for more or less movement by moving it to the different holes , also the base plate will bolt over the hole in the floor left by the 2 speed rear level not being there anymore , got some titanium plate stashed away for the finished version,

Cutouts.
Love them.
Perfect shortcut to antisocial thuggery.
I have a set for my C10 truck as well.

Al welded up Need to adjust the silencer and tack a V band in there to make sure it sits right next and make some hangers to, Maybe lobster back the outlet so it points down an bit along with the waste tube next to it or keep them straight with the traditional rolled tip. What you reckon ?

My metal ordered turned up finally so I can get on with the bed , my mate dropped off some 2x3 metre sheet steel a few weeks ago he had from a job nice 3mm sheet but does have a bit of patina and some holes where they lifted it with the forklift but hay its free, which would of been most of the cost I reckon, once I finish off the one side I can work out where to cut out the side lockers and make the side steps , oh and there's a 30 degree on those box sectoin up rights for the slope at the top of the bed to weld on and some tube for the edge, the next job I'm trying to keep it looking like its in proportion with cab but until I put it all together its hard to tell , so fingers crossed it looks ok...

Wow thats a long bed. Looks smart, are you keeping it clean along the sides, just adding running boards.
How is the wheel base compared to a standard truck?

How is the wheel base compared to a standard truck? thanks man, when I measured it the chassis has been cut down a bit already , so its a bit shorter than it used to be , but should be long enough to get my 240z on there still, I'm gonna put some side lockers on there to get to the air ride stuff if nedeed and store bits and bobs just like this mock up hopefully , excuse my paint skill though.... been thinking about making a canvas tilt, like the one I had on my old split single cab years ago to

Ooh how high will the front go ? Nice short ramps needed if it reaches the sky, have you got a clever solution for them yet ? Looking good sir. James
P.s. side steps as ramps ?

James P.s. side steps as ramps ? /the front goes up about 12" and the back down another 2" when/if I notch the chassis a bit , removable side step ramps sounds a kool idea , didn't think of that ! , I was thinking of old skool greedy board like this.... with the metal work hidden behind the wood , so when you finish with them them they just slot into the old post holes on the bed, which go down into the box section on the side , (I still need to cut these out of the return though)

Made some hinges for the tail gate ready for this weekends truck building time , also cut some 9 degree wedges for the wastegate and exhaust ends. hoping I get enough time this weekend to finish up the other bed side. bulkhead panel and make a tailgate , been thinking about getting some old Jarra railway sleepers and running them down into planks for the bed , coz they look old and battered and a nice red colour, anybody done this with before ? or is it not worth the hassle ?
