I termed "electronic weasels", because it sounds like the whistling warbling noises ferrets and weasels make when they're unsure about what they're sticking their nose into. Phil I love that I was reading this nodding to myself and thinking 'why yes that exactly what it sounds like,' as if I had the faintest clue of what weasels or a ferrets make when they're unsure about what they're sticking their nose into. I love this forum

Spammy spam spam spam, no thank you, man. Where does this come from?! I certainly didn't write that, I wrote 'k.i.t.c.h.e.n.s'! The word is in the swear filter as the forums used to get lots of random ads/bots selling them/posting links.

Brave brave souls... i would have my balls in my pockets if i brought anything car related into the house let alone put something on the table!! Yup, about the only thing I would be left to do after being caught would be to fashion my stretched and battered scrotum into a hat....... I would have thought a coin purse for the missus would be more a appropriate end use.

Ok. Got this damn thing all reassembled. It lights up, it rotates and it's all in one piece. It can now go back to its owner and be hung up in the bar where it belongs. Phil

Gonna call that done. Once the whole stay at home thing is done it'll make its way back to its owner. Phil

I'm currently working on this which is a compressor for a set of Maserati air horns that I've had sitting about for years now, finally getting round to making them work!
Great timing thank you!
I have one of these that I need to fix as well. Did a simple strip and clean work or was more work needed? What lubricant do you use in the little port labelled vaseline?
Many thanks

dadstaxi aha I've not actually finished repairing it yet found a broken solder on one of the power terminals within and had to wait to get a new soldering iron as my old one wasn't man enough for the job! I did find that the sliding vanes(?) in the compressor were quite stuck in place so its been worthwhile strip and cleaning it just for that. The port is labelled oil on mine, I was just planning to use some 3 in 1 light oil that I've got, I couldn't really find a consensus online about if theres a particular oil that is best for them

Excellent thank you. Mine says huile de Vaseline but I think I will give 3 in 1 a go.

Excellent thank you. Mine says huile de Vaseline but I think I will give 3 in 1 a go. Well I have tested them now and can confirm they are very loud so it seems that a clean out, repair of a dry solder and re-oiling did the trick!

How difficult was this? I've got a set of Dixie horns from the '80s in one of the sheds somewhere that could do with some loving.

Was fairly straightforward to be honest, probably the trickiest bit on reassembly was trying to line up two long screws that hold the bits of the compressor body together

Looking very good indeed.
I have mine partially dismantled and cleaned but am held back by 2 stuck set screws so I can remove the carbon brushes...
