That door is really coming along nicely. I must say I think I would have been a bit overwhelmed during the reskinning if it was me. It seems to be a lot of work and many things that can go wrong, especially during welding. How have you been/will you be treating the backside of the welded area to protect it from rotting out from the backside? Please continue posting ypur progress, it is an interresting thread, really a shame the so much bad work has been executed earlier on this car. But the silver lining is that thr RR community will have a long thread to follow :-)

Still loving the work you've done so far, It's great to see it being done to such a high standard, Totally agree about learning, I've always said my learning style is "monkey see, monkey do", I can read a subject numerous times and still struggle whereas I find I only have to watch it a couple of times to pick it up, Nigel

while taken off the alloys i noticed oil on the back of the alloys ,hub seals where leaking .i just went out to take of the rear hub nuts ,pulled out the split pins , well anyone who has done the brakes on a beetle or camper knows how hard they rear hub nuts are to slacken off, large breaker bar with 36mm nut and a lenght of pipe slide up the bar and swinging on it to brake the seal.well i got the split pins of and the nuts where hand tight ,slight move of the socket and of it came both sides , iam replacing gear box mounts all 3 as well work myself round see what other surprises i find

It's looking good - even though some of the previous work is pants, at least you've a fairly solid starting point, and no doubt you'll have it fettled in no time as usual!

People will do anything to make money, short cuts and bodges. At least if you do it yourself you can’t blame anyone for the quality of work except yourself. You are doing a grand job Owen, when you are finished it will be something to be proud off. Norman
