Yes. It's infuriating isn't it. I desperately want to put that whole 'invisible pirate' fake news episode behind me. I had a lot of issues in my life at the time and I think it was largely a cry for help. Does this help? Back of the curse word net

naughty corner defcon2. No naughty cornering allowed on page 14. Page 13 was a lapse of judgement brought about by all the preservatives and e-numbers in christmas snacks. From here on... This are Sirius thread. Minor bit of progress today. Triggered by the fact I live with three women, and women can get moody and cranky, and I'd had enough of that for one weekend so off I went to the workshop. Did some more skim fillering on the bare patches down each side of the rear bed. When doing the door, Elky very patiently showed me how to put down filler neatly so as to avoid having additional work to do sanding it all back. It was good to learn those skills. However, that was three weeks ago and I have a terrible memory. So I slapped it on like Mary Berry icing a Victoria sponge on a skid pan whilst high on crack. Then I sanded it back and ... oh man it felt so good. I worked it. I worked the materials. I was Michelangelo, Renoir... I was Henry Moore, Roger Moore, Roger Roger, over and out. I achieved such a sublime state of one-ness with the sanding block, the filler and the panel, that the shaping became something more like a spiritual negotiation at the molecular level than merely huffing a sanding block back and forth. Two hours passed like 30 seconds. It was quasi-orgasmic. A tantric state of mutual understanding, of wordless communion, of cosmic give and take. In my mind Kate Bush sang about stepping out into a sensual world, whilst dry-humping my leg in a seethru leotard. It was a meditation on shaping, I was breathing deeply, lost in total focus, doing my work with transcendent mastery. Then Elky bought me a cup of tea, told me it looked like sh*t, and that it was time to leave. So I pulled my trousers up and left. Back tomorrow though. I'm going to nail it, hard, like a total pro.

Off on a slight tangent, but still relevant to this forum....
Last summer, I made a comment to my wife that I might re-live my 20's by growing my hair really long again.
It was only a joke. I didnt mean it. I'm 50 years old, not a teenager.
But my wife's reaction was one of horror, outrage and a kind of dry retching spasm. So naturally I set about growing my hair immediately. It's quite easy to do. You just stop cutting it back and it naturally grows longer.
But it's been about 8 months now, and I'm still doing it.
It hasnt reached proper longness yet. It seems to be stuck in that 'too long but nowhere near long enough' phase.
It makes me look like a hybrid of Alan Partridge, Richard III, and a polytechnic tw@t from 1979.
I just went upstairs for a wee (in the bathroom) and as I caught sight of my reflection in the bathroom mirror I experienced a sudden and violent impulse to punch myself in the face.
So theres only one thing for it now.
I'm going to have to get myself up to the barbers, and enquire about getting hair extensions.

I grew my hair long in my early twenties, chiefly because my younger sister said I couldn’t.
I think I managed a bit under four years without having it cut. It was more than halfway down my back.
One day I just decided I’d had enough and had it all cut off. I’m not sure I could be bothered these days, and early shifts looking like you’ve been dragged through a hedge would be tiresome.

Well that's the weird thing. I keep going because it's easier than having it cut. I cant be bothered going to the barbers to get it cut. Its effortless. Though I only want it down to my collar bones or thereabouts. My aim is to end up like a fat James Taylor in Two Lane Black Top (so effectively Three Lane Blacktop). NOT TERRY BLOODY WOGAN, WHICH IS WHERE ITS BEEN STUCK FOR THE LAST FOUR MONTHS. LIKE A FECKING LEGO HAIR.

For my records this is a lovely colour combo... I wonder if my particular metallic blue would sit as nicely with an ivory white. *tickles the cornicing with a feather duster*

I'm reluctant to get involved here. It's like bonfire night when you've had a dud firework and just lobbed it onto the fire but it didn't quite make it. It's too hot to pull out but now you're too close to push it further in.* The next thing the thread has gone off somewhere you didn't mean it to. But, the one (and about only**) thing my son and I agree on, having both been through the long hair phase in our various youfs is, if you have to worry about it in the morning, it's too long. Number two's (haircuts, I mean) rule. And I looked a tosser long, with curly at the front and straight at the back - I blame adoption. Who knows whose genes? He did too, but blamed me. I couldn't blame adoption for that! We'd probably also have agreed once about the joys of Kate Bush in a see through leotard, although we'd also agree now, maybe not so much. So, in fact yes, there's loads we agree on. Thanks for opening my eyes. Love the Camino though. What was the question? * Of course, doing a public display, I'd never even consider this, no siree. ** We both like foreign ladies as well. His is Spanish. Mine? Do I need to say more?

Curly at the front and straight at the back?
That's a reverse 80's footballer mullet. You should go back to that. It could be the start of a new trend.
As for the thread, don't worry about it. Page 14 has suffered fallout from page 13.
Page 15 is where it gets Sirius.

The only effort I ever made towards long hair was an attempted mullet in the mid-80s. I was aiming for footballer/pop star look, but didn't really make it to Sunday league/local talent show level. As much as 'youth' don't want or need approval from their elders for their fashion choices, my grandmother actually laughed at my hair (which also sported 'highlights' done by my sister in the bathroom at home). I'm very glad I didn't choose 'long' as my preferred long-term look as my hair started to recede a few years ago and I'd now look like one of those sad tossers with a gaping forehead (fivehead?) and a pony tail (apologies to anyone on here who matches that description by choice). Or maybe it hasn't receded at all and my skin has somehow moved backwards a bit around my body. That would explain the hair appearing in places it never used to....
Anyway, carry on with this El Camino thing. I'm a big fan.

Page 15 is coming up fast people. Get those hair stories in quick before it's too late.
The only time in my life have been actually attractive to females is when I was 18/19 and had long hair. I got told a lot I looked like Shaun Ryder, who also had long hair at the time.
Now, Old Shaun is no supermodel, and neither am I, but something about Shaun appealed to the girls at the time, so I did very well for myself as a "he'll do" substitute.
I don't expect to relive those heady days again though. For one thing I'm married and for another... have you seen what Shaun Ryder looks like these days!?!?!

Did a bit more on the car today. Tried to remember to take progress pics but man I cannot ever be bothered with that. Did the final shaping, added tbe superfine filler skim over the top and sanded back to utter perfection. Here is a shot or two of some point earlier this morning g when I threw down some guide primer to sand back in order to check for lumps. It was a lot more exciting than these shots show. It was very exciting indeed. But these are the only two pics I took all day so you'll have to imagine the rest. Snoop Dogg was there. And Lena Zaveroni. One bloke brought John McCririck's corpse along in a giant jar of formaldehyde for a show and tell.
