Can I ask why there's a flexi in the pipe manifold to turbo on the right bank ? I understand the v-band but ... Because with them being two seperate banks and there's no "end" to the pipes, there's a risk of cracking due to the heat (plus with the tube being as thick as it is it's going to keep a lot of heat in).. so figured it was worth doing regardless of how sturdy the tubing seemed Cheers

Yeah I've used 3.8mm thick tube wich doesn't make for a lightweight set up. But it should be strong, as you say I've chamfered all the welds as I've gone and had the mig set very very hot haha. Time will tell on the cracking front. But I'm optimistic.
Cheers

version 2.0 is looking most fantastic, really did help doing all that work the first time round and it being successful to prove the concept and naysayers wrong. Look how much more productive it is having a forklift as a helper instead of your annoying chatty mate 😅😂

Least we've proved the concept now it's just getting better.. also did a good job of silencing the experts (not on this forum I ought to point out).. I'm saying nothing about the forklift being a better pair of hands than you lol.. I've actually got a proper update again but from finishing work to now things have gone more than slightly Pete tong. So that can wait for another day since I've just checked and it's beer o'clock

So yesterdays update, later than expected and with more disasters inside.. but like all my badly written poorly photographed updates. Youl have to read on haha. So firstly my alternator belt, 750mm 6pk was what i measured it as. But was I right... Course I was, like a glove! Tight to go on and leaves a bit of adjustment should it stretch.. Finished off all the welding (and grinding ) on the manifold and link pipe, last bit left to do was the wastegate.. Now I know my positioning caused a bit of controversy last time. But It worked and got zero boost creep. So it can't have been that bad.. so if it's not broken... Haha. I've put it back in a "similar" spot The difference being I've tried to take corners off the 90s that go into the T4 flange. So it's in "more" direct floor.. hopefully it will be fine. Maybe possibly... Haha. Also slight side note. That thick wall tube is incredibly hard to work with. Like impossible haha. Trying to drill a 50mm hole for the wastegate port was nigh on impossible.. took teeth straight off the hole saw, none of the die grinder bits I had would touch it had to resort to the trusty grinder and some creative welding haha. Anyways I forgot to take any pics as I went along. But this was the finished product. It's not as complete as it looks, all just loosely together for the "will it all work" pic.. I'd say so. So you've read all that, he's not cut his finger off, not set owt on fire... What's the disaster he mentioned.. well.... Got home from work about 4 yesterday and as I got to front door, noticed my dog hadn't come rushing to door jump all over me. Thought that's odd since she's like a lunatic whenever I got home (Mrs and kids had gone out).. opens the door into a river flowing across my brand new utility/hall/kitchen on top of the very expensive brand new (3 day old laminate). What the **** is going on here?!??!?? Turns out dog wasn't keen on water and had gone to hide upstairs.... And the tsunami that I found coming through the roof in my utility room, straight into top of boiler and flowing through the house... Where was that coming from. Turns out Mrs's mother had flushed toilet as they were going out, the button had stuck in (no big deal) and it carried on flushing, but the crusty nakerd old seal where the flush pipe goes into bowl had failed and was now flowing back out, onto bathroom floor and once that was full, started running through the roof!! Cue 5 hours of emptying everything wet out of every room, ripping the built in part of the built in toilet out, going to sheffield to get a dehumidifier. And generally trying dry stuff out. Oh and going to Wickes to buy a poxy £2.49 seal that caused it.. Luckily I think I cought it. And the only room of the new bit that hasn't been decorated is the utility.. it's going to need a new cieling, but In grand scheme it could have been a lot worse! Aren't houses just wibblepoo 😂 Anyways. Off to work now, might get a bit done later, might come home to Niagara falls again. Who knows haha. Cheers

Still sucks though and moving forward without getting down about it can be hard. A little bit of beer obviously helps. Keep the updates coming good and bad it's good to see you coming out of it all OK. James

Not been a fantastic few weeks but a great attitude, you will never forget that smell of wet wood and plasterboard, the last time we had a leak (leaking almost new water cylinder) I smelt it as soon as I opened the front door.

James The beer definitely helped a bit.. just glad I managed to salvage the majority of the house. The car spending seems positively frugal at how quickly houses eat money up. Il keep the updates coming good and bad...and we'll... Youl see. Haha Cheers

I mean it's definitely not been great, I still can't smell properly cus of last year's run in with the Rona.. but I can imagine how damp it all smelt yesterday.. Got to keep moving forward. Even if today hasn't been great... Cheers

Luckily I stopped reading before the bad bits, so I’m really pleased about the engine progress and don’t know about your utility water feature (Ok, I did read that bit too hope it’s an easy fix!)

So what is it about bad luck in 3s yeah... I'm up to about 33 even with my counting. And we'll... Had some bits turn up this morning, new Manifolds gaskets as I really don't intend on them having to come off again and after doing all this work thought it was daft to risk a blow for what they cost. Along with the "titanium" heat wrap, new Manifold metal lock nuts etc. Basically everything I needed to finish the exhaust side.. Set to cleaning the port up where the collector meats the turbo flange and general tidying up, also knocked up a bracket to take a bit of the weight of the turbo from some 4mm plate... Then things went slightly (read very) wrong.. the holes in the flange between the heads and the exhaust are off by maybe a mm.. they go on but there very tight and figured I would damage the studs (not what I wanted in a very tight engine bay).. Figured I'd drill the holes out to the next size up to give a bit of clearance.. now being lazy and not wanting to go to the van for my cobalt bits, I grabbed the crappy workshop drills.. set off drilling the holes out, and after a moment's loss of concentration the drill snagged spun round and smashed me square in face! For the record a 4.0ah DeWalt battery to the nose is utter utter curse word! Bit dazed and feeling rather sick from the horrendous crunch my nose had just made I stepped back and realised I'd got blood dripping off my chin! This wasn't good... Went up to office to look in mirror to be greeted with a horrified look from my boss.. When I'd finally stopped bleeding (there was a lot) and I'd cleaned myself up a bit. It became obvious the crunch was my nose breaking quick Google and the general consensus was that aslong as I could roughly breath through it and it was roughly straight I didn't need hospital. And besides I wanted to finish the Manifolds sent this to my Mrs, she's not impressed with my rugged new look haha Medical care out the way, wanted to atleast finish summat off before I went and dropped my van off for service. So this is how it was left. Manifolds and link pipe done, bracket made, just need to whip them off and bung them on the linisher to make sure there bang flat.. Called it a day at that (tbh I'd got the mother of all headaches by this point).. and set off to drop my van off for it's 30k service. Reversed out of my parking space, the same space I've reversed out of everyday since November... And caught the side repeater in the wing mirror on the container ramp (that's also been in exact same spot since November).. and obviously rather than fold the mirror in, it just shattered the repeater built into the mirror many many expletives were used!! Dropped the van off, told my boss I'd pay for the damage and went home.. to be greeted by 2 toddlers who both suddenly want to cuddle my face!!!!! I'm not going to pretend its been a good day. It's been, well yeah. Swear filter will love me.. but it has been a day, and that's more than some people have had.. And tomorrow would be going some to be worse.. so with that, fingers crossed for a better day tomorrow, and hopefully some better progress. I want to go and do skids haha Cheers!
