Luckily I stopped reading before the bad bits, so I’m really pleased about the engine progress and don’t know about your utility water feature (Ok, I did read that bit too hope it’s an easy fix!) If you like bad bits, youl love my latest update 😭😭.. but yeah. The cause of the indoor water feature is fixed if nowt else.

Despite all the calamity, you still seem somewhat chipper And you do have the "choo choo" car to get back together and drive after all the trials

And just when you think work's going to rat poo, along comes yer man with tales of horror, mayhem and death defying injury. Suddenly, my troubles pale into naught and the world seems a better place. Thanks! Let's hope you've had your fair share of curse word for a while.

Thanks! Let's hope you've had your fair share of plop for a while. Hey if my calamities make yours seem not so bad afterall, then I can think of it that I'm doing the people of retrorides a service.. the "atleast your not mat" effect haha But cheers I hope we've got the bad out the way and it's just plain sailing, smiles and good outcomes from here on (let's be honest, it won't be haha)

Ouch. I think you were right to just get on with things instead of getting it checked, when I broke my nose a few years ago I waited for 4 hours in A&E, and then they looked at it for a bit said something to the effect of "yes, it's broken, nothing we can do, if it starts going wonky go see your GP" and sent me home.
Hope your day goes better today and the Lexus plays ball...

I'm an idiot tbh 🤣 (broke my wrist years ago and still tried to race a mille 1000 cus id paid my entry and travelled all way to brandshatch)... I figured they wouldn't put my head in a cast so there was no point.. Today has indeed been a better day. Will update shortly! Cheers

Well what a difference 24 hrs make.. this time yesterday I was sat feeling sorry for myself, looking like an amatuer boxer worried my boyish good looks were lost forever with a banging headache 24hrs later I've still got the banging headache, and I'm still concerned for my boyish good looks, and look like an amatuer boxer... But the stars all aligned in Lexus land as youl see. Before I go any further let's not pretend this has been a five minute job. Other than a few bits at work it's taken me pretty much all day luckily I've had the day to myself, my boss has been off for day vans been in for service and I was pretty much told do what I want just don't injure myself again haha! Made a start gathering bits up for the downpipe and the exhaust that runs past the engine. Now obviously with all the work I'd done nothing was going to remotely fit any more, but I wanted to salvage as much as I could as much as anything to save a few quid. Got the old downpipe unwrapped (used heat wrap is even worse than new stuff on the itchy front) As you can see the idea is right it does go in right direction. But from a few measurements it was 3 inch too long vertically and 3 inch too wide horizontally.. it's also 4 inch and I needed to get it down to 3 to get past the engine. Wanting to save what I could I chopped off the awful "squashed" section of 4 inch exhaust that used to go under the subframe to salvage the 4 inch 90 and the 4 to 3 reducer. Bit of manipulation with the vice and the hot glue stick and id got a bit that I could use. Assuming it all sort of fits.. With them bits I could see where I needed to go. No turning back few more measurements and I'd shrank the downpipe by 6 inch overall length with two 3 inch slithers out of it.. At this stage it was all only tacked. However once I'd got it all together I did feel pretty smug with the outcome!! That certainly looks like it will work to me!! Swapped the stainless wire out the mig before I went any further, not wanting to waste it out heren the mild steel, looks like I only just had enough haha Now at this point I was going to leave it all tacked, just incase it doesn't actually fit in the car. But I'm impatient haha. From the outside edge of the bolt hole for the engine mount in the front subframe, to the inner chassis leg is pretty much bang on 4 inch.. and from the outside of the engine mount bolt, to the outside of the exhaust is "just" under 4 inch! I mean it's close but it was always going to be close. So with my measurement sort of setting my mind at ease. And the fact I'm impatient. Figured I'd fully stick it all together! I also had to fit a new wideband boss as mine had been lost in the downpipe reduction, I knew I'd end up needing one so ordered one with all the exhaust bits other week.. Flicked the flapwheel round to tidy a few bits up then basked in my fabrication glory .. worse case is I have to oval the tube very slightly as it passes the engine. Failing that Il make some clearance with the BFH Figured while I was being a fabrication genius I'd knock a mount up to take a bit of weight save the downpipe hanging off the turbo. The old set up didn't have one, but I'm a professional now Made a plate that bolts to side of block, and a matching one that I welded to the exhaust as it passes the engine. Then grabbed a bobbin on my way home to sit in the gap. Should hopefully help. Maybe... Haha. Ignore the bolt and nut arrangement. Was just to keep it all in line while I was making it. With that done I called it a day.. need to flick the Manifolds over the linisher then they can be wrapped and go on for good. All being well the engine is atleast ready to go in early next week. If not in!! More soon hopefully but won't be over the weekend as it's daddy day care again while Mrs is on nights. But tbh a couple days off is probably no bad thing! Cheers

Good job with the nose, years ago went mountain biking in Brecon, on my own and ran out of ability, went over the bars and my nose looked similar to yours where my glasses ploughed it..... finished the 5hr ride, drove a couple of hours home and got chewed out for not getting it looked at! All she could do was cut the pork scratching bit of dried skin off.... but bike and glasses were fine And good progress, enjoy your weekend

Another broken nose story.
My nose fell onto someone's fist. It didn't look bad but I still needed it straightening. I wasn't bothered but the specialist was adamant that I could have problems in the future if I didn't.

Did you have that huge drainpipe hanging off the turbo before? It looks enormous. I'm surprised it will fit in your engine bay!

Yeah I figured it didn't need hospital. Well man logic said it didn't since that would have stopped play and we don't have time for that

Terrible when that happens (faces falling onto fists haha, I don't miss thai boxing for that) I'm sure it will be fine, well it seems to be. Swelling has gone down a bit today and tbf the headache has eased. Blowing my nose is definitely not comfortable tho..

Did you have that huge drainpipe hanging off the turbo before? It looks enormous. I'm surprised it will fit in your engine bay! I did indeed. It's 4 inch diameter. Which is the size of the outlet on the old hx50 that was previously on it.. there's plenty of proven gains to be had from he downpipe being as big as possible so when I changed the turbo to the smaller GT,3586 with 3.5 inch outlet it made sense to keep as much of the old 4 inch downpipe as possible.. It used to go down a lot further and run under the subframe, it's actually a lot tighter packaged than it used to be, there's still next to no space in the bay tho, hence me moving rad forward, making my own slam panel etc.

Hope you heal up nicely, not sure if modelling was ever going to be an option anyway ! All the injuries around here are doing my head in a bit, be careful people. James

James I'm not even sure hand and foot modelling was an option for me tbh haha. I'm good, headaches finally gone I'm just a bit sore.. And I'm normally so so careful, I work on plant and fork trucks everyday that one wrong move could get you squashed, arms off or worse... I just got slack and lazy. My own stupid fault and I won't do it again haha Cheers

I couldn't get owt any closer without pipes touching and I didn't think that would be good. Proof of the pudding will be when I put it back in the bay and it either fits or is in a different postcode haha. But I'm optimistic... If it all works I've gained a bigger alternator, power steering and ground clearance.. along with hopefully a stronger Manifold set up. I'd call that a win/win/win .. maybe
