I managed in to find a nice set of XJR wheels for not a lot of money so bought them despite only having just bought four new tyres for the wheels currently on the Jag. Limited slip diff should be on it's way to me shortly and that's just the start. Big plans are afoot so watch this space, with the Cressida gone I can really concentrate all my efforts into making the Jaguar my perfect car.

Update for the Jaguar, Its had every poly bush available and lowered on springs with a new set of adjustable dampers, the ride is still comfortable but now it goes around corners like it's on rails. It's also had a short shift kit fitted which gets rid of the slop and has a lovely positive action, cliche corner like a rifle bolt! I've removed the straight pipes and replaced them with the original boxes, as amazing as it sounded with pops and bangs on the over run the drone wasn't bearable for long periods. I now have a blow on the down pipe from the manifold so that's next on the list. Plus I think the O/S/f brake caliper may be sticky so that'll have to be looked at. XJR wheels to follow once I find someone to refurbish them and get 4 new tyres.

Gotta love a lowered Jag. My XJR is polybushed all round too, handles much better than a two ton barge ought to.
What springs and dampers did you use?
Yours really looks good now!

Thanks, AVO adjustable dampers and springs. Also pictures of your XJR are obligatory *Edit, I've just seen that I commented on your Jag in 2016. Did you have a different user name back then?

Looking good dude Wish you'd gone the XJR route as that was probably the one I was selling (if it was an eBay find) gone now I'm afraid, but the chap I sold it to was planning on a twin-turbo setup with circe 1100whp in a Sierra Cossy. Madman! If you haven't already got it, the later braced rear mount for the suspension subframe helps a lot (XJ8s had it). The bit at the back of mine here.

Ah, no, just the engine from one. They didn't do a manual supercharged XJR unfortunately, and there's some fiddling to do with the electronics as the ECU is tied into the auto 'box on these. Definitely doable with standalone injection, or there's a chap who managed to crack the lucas ECU coding if it's the same between the two (think he used to work for Jag at the time).

They did make a manual XJR just not a V8 version. Straight six 4.0 supercharged that's initially what I was looking for but when this turned up in excellent condition for the right money I pounced on it. I did speak with someone about a supercharged V8 engine on ebay was that you? I was going to have it too but took too long to decide as usual! Small world....

Huh, you learn something every day! 102 made so pretty rare.
Nah I had the supercharged 6 engine. Would have been a small world!

I did. Used to be Pugboyracer, but sold my beloved 205 Mi16, so had to revert to plain old me. These cars are so good. It amazes me that they don't have more of a following. Glad you're getting stuck into yours. Gotta love a lowered Jag. My XJR is polybushed all round too, handles much better than a two ton barge ought to. What springs and dampers did you use? Did you have a different user name back then? They have fallen through the cracks a little bit haven't they? Probably to do with the old man image initially and they can rust quite badly if neglected so lots have met a premature end I guess. At least they are accessible to normal people with a normal budget, who knows they might shoot up in value one day but part of me hopes not....

You see the values of things like the Lexus LS400 going up and up and you wonder why these and the XJ40s haven't climbed in the same way. I can only assume image and preconceived ideas of rust and unreliability play a part. They're not quite the granite toughness of the Lexus, but then they actually have some personality and are much better to drive. They get a lot of affection in general though, people always love to see an old Jag.

The Jag has taken a back seat lately with the arrival of a new car to the stable (VXR8) the idle is still way too high and the front suspension is a tad too low. I'm going to sort the idle by the rational and obvious next step of individual throttle bodies, you've got to love the bark of an ITB set up! It's all about the sound and drivability rather than any power increase. However it'll be a while until I can afford to do it so for now it's under a cover waiting it's turn. I did manage to fit the boss that @johnnybravo made for me as a proof of concept and to check it fits and works and of course it does, please ignore the wheel, although it's actually growing on me, it does look like maybe Jaguar did a sporty colab with Nardi.... I've not decided what wheel to go for yet. There's plenty of time for steering wheel musings, I'm having the stock cam put back in the VXR8 which has wiped me out for the time being.

Jag straight 6 on itb's will make a nice noise, can't wait to hear that!
The Nardi doesn't look totally out of place really, maybe if it was cream it could almost look like a factory option. Almost similar to the TWR wheels fitted in the XJ40 XJR
