Well no progress with my light panel, my mate has had problems with his press, so i have been working on other parts of my build.
I have now fitted an eberspacher d2 diesel night heater under the back seats, i have connected all the wiring ect just waiting for a 5.5L tank to arrive then it should be good. Could have plumbed the take of into the standard tank but i prefer to have a separate tank, it will be fitted into one of the side lockers.
It has a 7 day timer on it so i can have the van nice and warm ready for when i leave for work, hopefully it will save me having to de-ice the windows.
Will take some pictures tomorrow as i was in a rush this even.

Well where do i start, got the heater in and its working great, finished that of Friday evening after work, Saturday morning we where heading to wetherby, we fueled up both tanks and hit the road. We got out on the the A1 at Peterborough, all seemed fine, got a few miles up the road and the revs dropped and picked up a few times so i pulled over in the lay by, turned the truck off and had a look under the bonnet, all seemed ok so i jumped back in and fired her up, put it in first and nothing. I tried 2nd 3rd 4th 5th and reverse, had nothing apart from 4th. So got on the phone and waited for best part of 4 hours for the RAC to send a recovery lorry to pick us up. Anyway got the truck dropped at work and went home. Popped in to work this morning and i pulled the gearbox out. There was oil all over the place,The clutch was fine and i looked at the release bearing and that was fine. I then noticed that the main input shaft nut/bearing cover was slipping about, pulled the release bearing and fork of and the nut/bearing cover was undone. Turned the gearbox by hand and it was grinding and crunching. So it seems the nut/bearing cover had worked loose and let the gearbox oil out and blew the bearings in the box. I'm shocked i have never seen or heard of this happening so curse word of is an understatement. So now i am going to have to find a reconditioned gearbox and get it fitted asap.

Oddly a friend had the same happen with his box 2 weeks ago, nothing but 4th and horrible grinding noises. I was surprised as nobody moans about gearboxes on these!

We used to run a lot of transits with mt75, don't remember this ever happening, I wonder if it has already been reconditioned at some point and not put back together properly.

Well after making a few calls to local companies we deal with at work a bloke called George popped in to see me.
He has broken quite a few transit and other bits and he said he had 4 or 5 RWD gearboxes and i was welcome to come and collect on and try it before i paid him. He only wants £60.00. So why i was waiting for bits to arrive at work i popped down to see George.
He indeed had 5 gearboxes, only 1 that is the same 3 bolt prop shaft flange as i need. He is gonna pull it of the engine for me ready to collect it in the morning.
Fingers crossed its a good box as George said it was and i can get my truck back on the road. Will update when i know more

They all now use the the mt82 6 speed which is a completely different box and much stronger, it was an option at the end of the life of this style transit as well but pretty rare, all the 4x4's are mt82 as well.
The mt75 as you say was around for donkeys years and there were improvemebts throughout it's life, especially when the puma engine was introduced in 1999.

Well i pickup the gearbox from George on Thursday morning, looked nasty as was covered in mud, got it back to work and give it a bit of a clean.
Thursday evening came and i pushed the truck into the workshop just after 1700, i pulled the old flywheel of, i fitted a new flywheel, clutch plate, pressure plate, clutch fork and release bearing followed by the gearbox, i carried on and i was all finished by 7.45. Well i just had the gear lever to refit.
Went in early this morning and sorted the gear stick, fired the truck up and drove it out the workshop, all be it the clutch pedal was curse word. I ordered a new clutch slave cylinder as i already changed the clutch master cylinder a few weeks back.
More updates as and when

I Love this as a project. Would very much like to do something similar but with an extended Flareside rear tub.

Happy New year everyone. I have had a nice productive New years eve. I have finally got my new rear light panel. So with the wife on the curse word and the kids asleep i thought i would have a play. Took some time to figure things out, but its all bolted up apart from the reverse camera number plate mount. I have now wired up the right hand side, just the other side to wire then look at getting it fitted to the truck. Hope you enjoy the photos. All feedback welcomed Please ignore the last 2 photos i had the panel on the bench upside down,

It’s looking great so far. I’ll keep an eye out in case it comes up for sale in a year or two.

I have been banging my head of the wall for the last 2 days. I have been wiring up the rear lights and i have come across a strange problem. I have wired up the rear fog lights, reverse lights and indicators, my problem comes with the rear side lights and brake lights. I have brake lights working fine until i turn the side lights on. Then i don't have a difference in brightness. With the brake light wire disconnected the side lights are fine. Check the brake light wire and it is getting 8.4 volts where it should have nothing. Checked the brake light switch and 1 side i have ignition live, the other side should be nothing but i have the same 8.4 volts. For some reason its getting a back feed from somewhere. Its being a right pain to try and work it out. Anyway I will sort it some how. Any input would be great. On i did manage to fit my reverse camera number plate mount in between all the wiring.

You need to fit diodes on the feed for each led unit and scuff the clear on the cover for the side lights diffusing the light emitted, they will be there but not as bright, you could try a matt/satin clear coat spray to do it.
The diodes will stop any feed back and use individual earth to one point don't group the wires and use a common earth.
