Mad max did it for me . The standing sideways burnouts and the supercharger . And the cars having the guts wrung out of them .

Hotrod is a classic. There is a scene to turn all petrolheads stomach, when a guy breaks into a competitors car, fires it up & revs the knackers off it, until it blows

Mad Max, Smokey and the Bandit, and the brief Mustang and Charger chase in Bullit. Can't say I was impressed with Two Lane Blacktop though. But to be fair, I did see it for the first time in a field, on a projector at Gaydon, when we had the Gathering there. Anyone else remember that night?

The Blues Brothers. Not a car film but I like it for the cars and the music, overall my favourite of all.

My favourite as a biker was the original Mad Max, Zed 9's, 1000's, GS 1000's etc just modded like we wanted as they were current bikes we went broke paying for on HP, plus "It's the last of the V8's Max....." But purely car based; Two lane blacktop, Vanishing point

Ha ha The Wraith was hilarious. VERY 80s! I am surprised nobody's mentioned two of my favourites in addition to what's already been mentioned: The Gumball Rally And of course The Italian Job (The proper one)

Italian Job, Herbie, Smokey and the Bandit, Cannonball Run were all favourite as a child. Then Gone In 60 Seconds, Cannonball, American Graffiti and the Blues Brothers. Later on I found Two Lane Blacktop, Hot Rod and the California Kid, and the bad horror films like The Car, Duel and Maximum Overdrive. One I've never got around to watching Is The French Connection.
