Very very nice. Looks well in white. One of my colleagues has a left hand drive 155 but it was built from factory with Lancia delta integrale running gear? Forget the name for it now, but its rare and mint and utterly gorgeous. It looks like you have similar repairs to the floor like I do. Whats panel availability like? He has a Alfa 155 Q4. I had a project Q4 years ago but sold it on as didn’t have the time to do it

Excellent. Are you around in the evening? Or would a weekend be better A weekend is better for me as I work from 1230 to 2330 Monday to Friday. I go to Tamworth from Kent to the main Vw group parts warehouse collecting parts for the main dealerships in a lorry I’m in no rush for a few weeks so get as much done on your car first

I am trying to pluck up the courage to do dome welding on the floor pans of a Mini shell that I am putting a Honda VTEC engine in. Your video makes it look easy and that scares the carp out of me as anything that looks easy usually isn't. Thanks for blowing the hole though.

An epic Rover thread, brilliant. I love the idea of a diesel SD1. Much the same way as I miss my old Merc Diesel, its nice to have an old school diesel beat, plenty of torque and an interior as comfy as being at home.
Well done for saving it. Hats off to you for commitment.

Hats off to you for commitment. Thanks. Yes your comment on Mercedes diesel beat is spot on. Something trustworthy and reliable about them. I like that the engine is basically full mechanical injection, and very little to go wrong (fingers crossed). Ps I actually really want an old diesel merc!

I have owned a couple of old Diesel Mercs, I got a tatty but mot's 300D for not much money and ran it for a couple of years, strange being a twin cam 24v 6 pot auto, but then naturally aspirated (only option in rhd) It sounded gorgeous, once warmed up you didn't know it was a diesel well sound wise any way. You could tow anything without noticing so much torque. it was slow but a very relaxing way to travel and good MPG too, you could go out and not spend £100 every time. It was the type of car that you always felt would get you home (although a bit late in that heavy W124) I do love a mechanical diesel. Nissan SD33 out of a Patrol is a splendid engine too, well worth transplanting into something that doesn't dissolve like a Nissan body.

Did a bit more tonight. Tried and failed, then tried again and made a section of channel to replace my rusted out scuttle channel. Also got the fuel tank out, and it looks really good. Just wants a derust and painting.

I got a delivery today of a nearside battery tray, nearside inner wing and chassis reinforcing things.
Not sure if I'm going to use the inner wing at this stage, I might wait until I actually change the outer wing. For the moment I'm concentrating on the stuff that needs to be done to get an MOT.
With that in mid I got on with the battery tray area, as its close enough to the strut to be an issue.
Chopped the worst of it out and then started to make a repair panel. Easier said than done as it curves it two different directions. So I hacked up an old inner wheel well and then started heating and bashing it to get somewhere near. Its going quite well, just ran out of time and energy today. Hopefully will weld it in on Saturday.

Just binge watched/read 14 pages. Good stuff! Interesting to see you do a... not so perfect resto, after watching your progress with the police car.

subbed to your videos, very informative. Good to watch realistic rebuilds rather than the TV derived rubbish.

Got loads done over this weekend. On Saturday I spent a full day on the car. I got the donor scuttle panel welded in, and then added my diy fabricated rain channel thing. I'm really chuffed with how this turned out. Its really neat and crisp looking. It will just need a bit of filler and paint. Its frightening just how long this is taking. It pretty much took all day. There was some painting to do and last minute shaping, but my March deadline is looking very optimistic. Then today I had about 4 hours. Although it started out really sunny, it clouded over and got quite breezy. This hampered my welding. I got my battery tray in, and then started rebuilding the wheel well. All was going well till it started spitting with rain and then I ran out of MIG wire. Doh! Balanced in Clamped in position Plug welded, ground flat and etch primered Tacked in my salvage/fabricated repair panel Welded it in And from the rear
