Very nice repairs, almost invisibel. I am surprised about the amount of effort and time you put into this car and not knowing if you will keep it. Keep up the good work and its fun too watch Peter

The work is brilliant but I have to say - I'm v v impressed with the fact that you're doing this in a car park. I'd literally lose the will to live doing that (because I wouldn't just forget to pack a tool I'd subsequently need, in the car prior to travelling but do it 5 or 6 times......).
if I wore a hat i'd doff it.
Love the car too.

Done a couple of bits that last two evenings.
I stripped done the front, got the bumper irons off, and the oil cooler, ready for me to treat the surface rust. ALso straightened the nearside tow eye.
Then i started making a replacement panel for the bottom of the nearside wheel well. I offered up a new belly panel and used card to make a crude template. Then offered it up to the offside to check the fit.
I made the new panel out of Zintec steel sheet and started to shape it. Ill do the rest of the shaping when I come to weld it in.

Amazing work, even more so that your doing it in a car park, in the dark in the middle of January !! + your capturing/filming it for our entertainment. You go inside to make/shape the panel and then back out into the dark and cold to carry on, if that's not dedication then I don't know what is !
Should get a MBE for services to SD1's !

Did a fair bit on Sunday. I salvaged some 0.6 mm wire from a welder not of the scrap pile to replace to 0.8 mm wire i had accidentally bought off ebay. Tacked in and then did the final shaping of my wheel well repair section. When it was mostly in i offered up the underbelly panel and formed the lower lip by bending it at 90 degrees with a pair of pliers. I finished it off with a pair of hammers to make a nice neat edge. Then i cut a square hole in a tab of the flange to take the captive thread for the underbelly panel mounting. After that i chopped off the lower corner of the outer wing and inner wing. I sectioned up a new inner wing ready for the repairs but didnt get around to actually welding it. I also had a real good poke and chop at the floor so i could start planning the repairs. Long video of all of the above.

Brilliant progress Jim, there's nothing more satisfying than rebuilding an area that was once air and rust (well other than actually driving the car) enjoying the videos of the rebuild.
