I've been here for a while so I thought it's about time I put a project up. My wife bought this about 13 years ago and ran it for a couple of years. It's a Ford pop built on a Triumph Herald chassis using all the running gear. She loved it despite it being slow and it was her daily driver. However it became apparent that it was all a bit tired. So I took it off the road for some mild updating. It was at this point it became very apparent that all was not well in corrosion land. Despite the expense that the previous owner had gone to on the roof chop, roof fill and louvred bonnet and boot the car was very rotten. As we will see it was very well disguised! This will be a sort of catch up thread consisting mostly of photos with a few words where necessary to explain.

So, 10 years ago into the workshop. Start the strip down. Most of the floor was fitted with Gripfil! Knackered Herald engine.

You will note in the bulkhead picture above there is a lot of filler around the steering column tube. This was a sign of things to come...

As a further upgrade the Triumph swing axle rear end was destined for the scrap heap. Can't post photo for some reason So now I need something to hang the wheels off!

The crossmember where the links meet the chassis is triangulated and very stiff.

The actual links are stainless steel seamless tube. The ends are machined from solid with a twin taper and take 7/16" bore rubber bushes from Triumph shock absorbers as fitted to Heralds (keep it in the family, sort of!)

When all fitted up it works a treat. Articulation is very good with an easy 8" total movement at the axle end.

Now sorted, as is all of it. OK that's enough rust, you get the idea, it was a mess!

In the middle of all this Ihad several back issues that laid me up for some time. Also Wifey was very ill with stress and ended up retiring. Then I lost my mojo. All at different times, all of which delayed things by years unfortunately.
Anyway, back on with the catch up.
