So the Retro look Stanced Mk6 Transit went off to its new owner yesterday and buy the evening I'd brought this.! It's basically running an 1800cc Fiat twin cam engine and 5 speed gearbox. front end is custom independent A arm setup with coilovers, princess 4 pot callipers. Rear axle is a Triumph Dolomite Sprint, with adjustable coil overs and 4 bar setup. In general it's all there. Just needs tidying up and finishing off.. Well happy with it and share it with you as I go. Plan is.. Drop down more in hight, banded steels with chrome caps.. I'll grab some more photos at some point.

Wow, love it. The wheels are smart that are on it (I'm fond of the black / silver rim look) but the steelies will be awesome. Looking forward to updates and loads more pictures!

Best of the 8v Fiat twincams. Some of the later Regata heads had huge valves as standard, pretty much everything swaps between 1.6, 1.8 and 2.0 apart from rods and crank.

Love it! When was it built? Early 90s? Seems very period.

good job i'm not a betting man , i would have lost my shirt on the transit replacement being fwd from the 80's with a blue oval...or a really obscure choice of van for another conversion.

Nearly did you with a nice mk3 π But been there, done that.. So thought I'd go proper retro Anyway.. It's in its new home, and I've started checking it over. Really interesting front end setup. Rear 5 link. Princess 4 pot calipers, 9"rear drums.. It's definitely going to stop Coilover mounts need modifying so it can go lower. But I'll add more photos as I go

Nice 107E - My first car was a 998cc 107E and my first car mod was to put an oil gauge on it.....the copper tube transmitted engine noise into the cabin and the very small needle movement confirmed that the engine oil light coming on was correct - the engine was knackered! Still a rebuilt spare engine with a GT camshaft and ported head made it go better. A home made tubular exhaust system made it sound better. The vacuum wipers were a nightmare and somebody ran into the rear wheel arch. I then sold it to buy my first Frogeye Sprite.

Bit of a progress report. Lesson number one. Trust your instinct π€ Very small knock on tick over which I put down to just a valve train knock.. But wasn't happy with it. So bit more investigation (with my " acoustic stick" π) and I put it to a bottom end knock around the number 2 cylinder.. But more mid range, middle of the block around the fuel pump area /blank??! Bit of digging on the good old tinterweb revealed that a common issue on the twin cam is an incorrectly timed auxiliary drive shaft, meaning the fuel pump lobe will catch the number 2 con rod as it rotatesπ³ not good.. But look at the timing marks,(painted on marks by original owner ) all seemed good. But gut instinct was to pull out the shaft and check.. Just as well I did. Turns out it had been timed up using the wrong timing hole, meaning indeed there was contact between conrod and auxiliary cam lobe π So well know mod, that I'm able to do because it's running an electric fuel pump, and all should be well again π You can see the mark on the cam lobe!! So cut it off, drill and tap the hole to maintain oil pressure. Loc tight a bolt in (forgot to take photo!) and jobs a good un π I'm going to enjoy this project βοΈ

It was such a FIAT engine that I had rebuilt and wedged into my MG Midget that taught me about interference engines. The hard way! Was a brilliant swap once I got past four bent valves and a few other teething issues.
Your car should be a lot of fun.
