We had a Fuego turbo at college to work on when I was serving my time. I didn’t really think much of it at the time, I’d forgotten how nice they look! I can’t remember the last time I saw one, they were a rare beast when they were new if I remember right.

It's certainly one I'd forgotten about, I bet I haven't seen one in 25 years. Set a lot of firsts when it was released. Only 16 left, in various specs, on UK roads. Here's one that didn't make it into production, not the best looking convertible if I'm being truthful!

It's interesting how the body-kitted dark blue and red cars look far more dated than the stock cars do.

always had a soft spot for these since a short ride crammed in the back of one with my cousins in 1981...it must have left quite an impression.

I've always liked them myself, sort of like Renaults version of the Porsche 944, but some how more attractive. Sadly I think i've missed the boat as far as owning one goes.

I remember the fuss Renault made when it was pointed out that it was just an R18 underneath :-)
Designed by Robert Opron who also did the Citroën SM and CX - the derv version was perhaps one of the first “sporty” diesels? Also cited as the first production car to feature remote central locking?

Of course all this has prompted a Europe wide search for one for sale... Quite a few located... Must be strong, and not give in to temptation!

Also cited as the first production car to feature remote central locking? Fastest diesel in the world, (112mph in 1982), and first to use 'plip' remote. Also first mass-produced sports car designed using wind tunnel technology. It's quite sad given its attributes and looks that it's almost forgotten and almost extinct, in the UK anyway. I wonder how much the dealer is after for this 'family owned' 2.0 GTX in Armagh?

I like the look of this one in Spain... But at € 21,500.- plus having to go and get it, it's a little too steep for my piggy bank!

Renaults were sold through AMC dealers in the last death throws of that particular marque. If you block off the massive brown tent on the back it doesn't look bad at all.

Yeah, I'm not persuaded by ratchart's argument either. I think a massive brown tent over the whole thing might augment its potential.

nah...flush hood cover , lows , euro spec headlights and bumpers and it would be perfectly acceptable.
