A good few hours put in today Whilst George enjoyed Brands hatch I got three quarters of the underbody red oxide painted It was stripped back using a combination of flap discs on the grinder And wire brushes in the drill We’re not aiming for a show winning van Just clean and rot free, two small area to weld, my good friend and neighbour Andy will be doing these soon     |

Thanks John , after I’ve calmed down and had time to reflect , I was 15 once....a long time ago granted but my 35 years of modifying and tinkering with cars sometimes counts for nothing in George’s eyes!
That said he’s light years ahead of where I was age 15
So perhaps I should treat his views with more thought sometimes
A couple of days off the van will help for both of us I think

I know it’ll be hard when he does, I had a low beetle... back then I thought it was awesome, now (well actually I’d put it on air because I secretly still love low stuff) I would want some comfort. But if he wants something I don’t and we have a row in 4 years........ Feel free to post on my thread that I’m a fraud for falling out over it  |

There’s currently a thread on here about lazy sellers of cars
It’s much the same with parts, we have contacted two eBay sellers supposedly breaking mk6 escorts
Both said they would get back to us , neither have bothered, annoying as we wanted to go and plunder there cars for spares, if anyone knows of a breaker in the Kent or se London area with a mk6 let us know

There’s currently a thread on here about lazy sellers of cars It’s much the same with parts, we have contacted two eBay sellers supposedly breaking mk6 escorts Both said they would get back to us , neither have bothered, annoying as we wanted to go and plunder there cars for spares, if anyone knows of a breaker in the Kent or se London area with a mk6 let us know Cheers Dan and George Dan / George - It's not just sellers but general apathy by service providers too - the UK economy gets moaned about has to what it's not doing & should be doing - if only half of the automotive sector so called specialists got off their lazy ar*es - I called 6 Southern based tank repairers in relation to a fuel tank repair and was expecting to spend £500 + with whoever I placed the repair with - not one of them have returned my call / enquiry - I have ended up shipping the tank 200 miles North just to get some committed service - boils my blood it does - back on topic - nice to see the progress with the van |

Thanks, yep it seems strange when you have cash to spend Nobody wants it!..did manage to get some seat runners of a good fella over near Brands hatch He can source a good front bumper for us too Neighbour Andy has Been sorting the rear shock mount which had some rot He has cut it out welded an inner piece and is currently Doing the mount itself   |

George has is first attempt at a bit of welding Filling up the holes on the back doors when he got home from Saturday job He did quite well....me?? Awful no good at all I guess that’s why I’m a salesman ! Thanks to Andy it’s all solid and ready to paint the repaired areas   |

Just a small update
George and me went off to down to my pals and George’s bosses garage tonight to get to the bottom of a niggling rattle on my Mercedes
Rick the boss sorted it , front balljoints ordered
Whilst we were there banter and a few funny comments were shared on the choice of colour for the van
This resulted in us having a drawn out conversation on the way home
The colour I suggested in the first place
when we first bought it has now been agreed.....sometimes dad will get his own way!
Not long now it should be In soon Hopefully for a full repaint

Not to much done this weekend Been too busy enjoying the glorious weather Did tidy everything out out of the back It needs painting, it will be boarded out in the back But we still want to make it look better in there Any suggestions on painting it?  We also found these business cards tucked down behind where the rear lights fit  Which confirms our suspicions it was owned by swiftcure rot protection in the past We can just make out there logos on the side panels in certain angles George commented it’s a shame they didn’t rot proof the van! I’m going to take a chance a ring them to see if they have any pics or history of the van It’s a small family run business so maybe they will Remember it |
