Hows it going mate ive bought a 2ltr silvertop for my mk3 ive sold the inlet and driveshaft stabiliser bar Still got alternator engine mounts tensioner,manifold with a daft pipe coming out it and ive stuck it on ebay but you can have it all free if you want as I'm just gonna have a clear out ,I'm going to Matlock on Saturday with mrs and kids then she will be going home and i will be working in Derby the rest of the week let me know if you want it Cheers Del Cheers for the offer mate bit far away for us ! I’ve started replacing the front suspension legs this weekend and a small brake upgrade I’m using ford Oem pads with the grooved discs and see how they are Also bought young George’s bbs wheels which were on his mk3 fiesta,, rain did try to interrupt but I made a quick temporary carport! Need to fit the offside leg and a replacement driveshaft next weekend    |

Yup....
Bloody rain.
What is the rule around alloys on a commercial vehicle?
I remember that the VTR alloys I bought for Prozac were legal on it, but not on the little Berlingo van that the guy Imgot them from had.
He had had an MOT fail as they were not load rated or something.

I’ve had no problems getting motd Rian Think it’s probably below the required weight ? Always excellent news Dan. I don’t understand why some rules are enforced. Andy used his van as a car, not as a commercial at all, so it surprised me as I had never known there were rules like that. Looking forward to the next incarnation of your van. |

Thanks Rian , the wheel change came about in a strange way this morning George saw a set of wheels and tyres for sale on face bay and agreed to pick them up within the hour We left for Essex and I tried unsuccessfully to get speak to the seller for his postcode, I finally got hold of him to be told there’s been a mistake I don’t want £150 for them I want £900!! Absolutely laughable there not that price new!! Someone obviously got in with a better offer The ford scene can be frustrating sometimes! Anyhow we came to an agreement and I’ve got George’s wheels so all ended well |

I don't think it is the wheel it's the tyre which has to have the correct load rating on a commercial, of course if you fit a larger wheel there may not be a low profile tyre with the right load rating. (though given how porky modern cars are there are probably cover an escort van) |

He had had an MOT fail as they were not load rated or something. Utter twaddle. There is no RFR applicable for this, I'd have had the ministry down on them like a ton of bricks. Testers can't just make up failures to suit themselves, there is a manual for a reason. Only the tires can be load rated failed so unless that what it was, then it's just bunkem  Anyway, van is looking top as usual, Keep it up guys! |

Wheels and tyres do need to be load rated, however if no load raitng visible on the rim & the tyres are correct I think you would be ok.
I put 18's on my 2wd Hilux, the rims were rated at 680kg (should technically have been higher) but I changed the tyres to 104 load rating.
Vans looking great now!
