Now, this presented a temptation I could not resist. It is only right that I jury rig up a fuel supply and see if it will actually run.
Well;
Unfortunately as you can probably see, the fuel tap leaks massively, but I suspect it's just a knackered seal so i'll sort that out later

Ha ha. I've had a couple of folk say about the governor. I'm gonna see just how it drives first, and if my speed calculations are correct!

So, another day done, another evening presents itself, and more progress! After the shonky test run last night, I thought I'd rig up a sensible fuel tank. I'd always had in my mind a front mounted gasser style tank, and I just happened to have an old lawnmower tank kicking about so, I knocked up a couple of brackets; And sat the tank in place; That'll do nicely until I get around to making a nice aluminium one. And with a properly mounted tank and new fuel pipe fitted, I just had to have another little play; Now this has presented me with a quandary. I did have the intention of fitting a 'conventional' car style exhaust system with a cherry bomb style 'silencer', but now I'm thinking maybe just a short stubby upswept pipe. Any thoughts?!

I say put a little Zoomie style exhaust on it! This is so cool it's unreal, thanks for building it, and sharing it with us!

Straight pipe, no mufflers. Just point it somewhere sensible so you don't start a grass fire.

Well, I've had a little look through our metal stock and found a piece of 1 1/4" stainless steel tube so expect a straight stubby pipe being fitted by the end of play tomorrow!

Absolutely brilliant... so much so I'm off to relieve my 18 month old nephew of his little tikes car and build a similar version. He'll stop crying and thank me for it some day I'm sure

They always thank you when they discover the joy of engine powered things So, as previously hinted, I had a piece of stainless steel pipe that looked about the right size. I made a flange (giggedy) out of 6mm mild steel and attached the pipe to it, after putting a bit of a kink in it to give a better angle; I dunno about you lot, but I reckon it looks just right. Annnnndddddd, I 'may' have tested it out. Again.

Thats so cool, but watch it doesn't set the plastic on fire lol! More chance of it setting my foot on fire tbh. Lol Nah, should be fine. It's a good few inches in front of the clutch pedal.

A "sensible" update amongst all this tomfoolery! Now it is fairly clear that the drivers left foot is going to be in somewhat close proximity to the clutch and primary drive chain, which will be wizzing around at up to 3800 rpm. Obviously this is not ideal! So, I grabbed some 1mm Aluminium sheet from our stock and made myself a chain guard; And Mr postman has brought me some more goodies this morning, but I shall reveal them later

Is your left foot not going to be cooked whith the exhaust at that angle? Or is that on the 'added fun' list?
