Yeah, it's designed for winter driving The exhaust is actually far enough forward for it not to be blowing on your foot. It will also serve as a reminder to not drive around resting your foot on the clutch pedal!

Right then, it's time to bring you all up to speed. New final drive chain arrived; With a little chain guide machined from Tufnol; And with that I turned my attention to the missing roof! Yeah, that looks somewhere near; Repeat on the other side and start filling in the front; Now, I know it's not too pretty atm, but once I've got the final shape finished I'll be fibreglassing over the whole body and repainting it the original red and yellow, so the joints should be pretty much hidden

That seems to pick its feet up rather nicely and is, without doubt, utterly bloody brilliant!

That thing is quite clearly a mobility scooter. Just the thing to drive to the shops.

It is certainly 'cosy' in there. And it's only gonna be worse with the roof on! Acceleration is a lot quicker than I expected tbh. But I think I've sourced another gearbox for it which is 3 speed and reverse so I can play with the gearing a bit more. Sadly I'm currently having issues with the ex SWMBO who has 'banned' my kids from driving it

Just tell the ex SWMBO that the kids are safer driving it than riding shotgun on the front rails

See I probably wouldn't have told her until after they'd had a great day of fun driving the thing, and by then it's too late! I used to look after my cousins son when he was little while she was working the weekend, I took him in a helicopter once, he loved it, his mum however was not too impressed. But I didn't tell her straight away, I waited until I developed his photos so that he could share them with his mum! If I'd have told her my plans before hand I couldn't have Done it becAuse she would've said no, but after we had been or our little flight it was too late, she couldn't stop us! However, after that she did always ask if the weekend plans included anything thAt flies! I would always say, not at the moment, but who knows what opportunities will arise in the next couple of days lol.

I've tried the old "Do it and tell later" with her before. It never ends well and she always finds a way to 'get back' at either me or the kids.
Apparently she and her sewing club mates are better qualified than me to determine that it's not safe. (Despite me being a qualified engineer and they haven't even seen it!)
It's just sour grapes on her part.

It's just sour grapes on her part. She probably wants a go and knows that you wouldn't let her (well not until you'd removed all the 'safety' features).

Well Mr Speedy, This just means that you'll need to build a suitably trailer (with a hidden roll bar, seats & seatbelts) [think rickshaw style] for the kids to "safely" enjoy it with you.. ;-)

Please tell me it's going to have a comically long gear lever outside the body, like all those 70's hot-rod zombie surf graphics did!

Another night of tinkering and I have a roof 'frame' that a reasonably happy with; It's not particularly pretty, but I now have a base on which to build. It will be fibreglassed all over and smoothed out. I shall also make a new roof skin to close up the hole. Now bearing in mind that the initial idea was to use this around the RRG campsite, I thought we should add some illumination so; That should do nicely;
