So I've given myself a challenge to get this back on the road in 30 days so hopefully updates will be coming thick and fast. Day 1: Collected the head back from the machine shop after having the studs drilled and the head skimmed. Lifter buckets back in Cams back on New ARP head studs (with stupid imperial multi point nuts) Head is now back on and everything is torqued down correctly, new camshaft seals are in. Left the unit at approx 00:30 with this: Earlier in the day, many things also arrived: HKS cam pulleys GReddy timing belt Nissan coolant Shell 5w40 Power steering fluid Japspeed downpipe Japspeed flexi de-cat Japspeed elbow Day 2: More things arrived Mishimoto Rad Mishimoto front mound Mishimoto catch can Thermostat Oil filter Spark plugs JIS battery terminal converters Magnetic sump plug Half moons for the back of the cam covers Exhaust studs Nissan gearbox oil Apex'i air filter Ogura racing clutch and flywheel Felt pretty sleepy so just did a 5 minute oil filter and spark plug install

Day 3: Deliveries: Live cable Earth cable Fuse Crimps Battery terminals Standard J-Pipe and BOV Clutch pedal Brake pedal Heat shrink Not pictured: Clutch fork Clutch M/C and lines Thermostat in Cam gears on Timing belt on All covered up Exhaust studs in New gasket on Exhaust manifold on Started on inlet side Now onto a problem. I got the front half of an RB20DET manual prop and I was planning on bolting it onto the back half of mine, however as you can see below the carrier bearing is on the front half on the RB20 and the back half on my RB25DE auto one. Does anyone know what I need to make this work?

Day 5: Got the snapped stud drilled out of the turbo and got it all mounted up with new gaskets. Starting to look more like an engine now, hopefully will get inlet side done tomorrow, just waiting on some coolant hose. New sump plug too:

Day something: Lower plenum on Put some things back in the bay: Ran the battery cabling to the boot and made some earths: I'm hoping that will be enough, just need to get hold of a battery box now, used these massive hydraulic crimpers for the battery cable which worked really well. New (used) flywheel and clutch on Gearbox on Engine in Wouldn't have been possible without a lot of friends and colleagues helping to guide it in. Next steps - attach all the things.

Better pic of the engine in Brackets for the front mount, bottom ones could do with some paint: For the piping one side on For the other side the piping kit was intended for a cut through the side of the battery tray not the top so it will need to be modified Tried the battery in the boot and everything works okay, engine turns over (took fuel pump fuse out), as soon as I get the FMIC piping finished I can give it a start.

So I've nearly had my month to finish it off with about 3 days remaining. Over the weekend I managed to: Fix P/S system leak and bleed the system Hook up the reverse wiring Bleed brakes Refit arch liners and wheels Now for the clutch M/C I spend about 6 hours trying to bleed this and nothing would work, first of all it was seized, after I fixed that it seemed the seals had gone in it and it was pushing fluid back into the resevoir. I got another one and bled it in 5 minutes. Now for the gearbox mount, I had a bit of a job figuring out what would fit. From left to right Skyline, S13, Auto skyline Turns out the S13 one bolts up perfect to all four holes Exhaust is in Prop is on, needed new front and back sections. Made a bracket for the horns It moves! Just need the pipework finished so I can take off the cosmic duck-tape.

Good news, it's back on the road but I don't have many pictures Here's a little taster I had a few teething issues, it kept stalling when you dipped the clutch. Found a huge air leak where the dash boost gauge sensor vacuum source was. The nipple had snapped off the plug. Being an NA car originally it doesn't have the boost gauge on the dash so I threaded the plug and put a bolt in it. Then I found the line under the throttle body wasn't blanked off and the BOV wasnt connected to the plenum so was venting to atmosphere. I fixed all of those things and it hasn't stalled since, pulls harder too. I also had an issue with the timing where it wouldn't go lower than 25 deg BTDC. This was using the timing loop at the back of the loom, using a HT lead between coilpack and plug 1 however, it timed up perfectly. Now onto the potentially bad news. Half a day after my BOV fix and improved boostiness, the turbo now sounds like a super charger and whines when you come on boost. At least it sounds like its coming from there. All the bolts are still tight on the turbo and exhaust housing. Does anyone know what causes this? Either way it doesn't sound good.

I took off the intake pipework and there is no play in the shaft. I re-assembled everything, took the MAF off, blocked the pipe with a can and added pressure to the system from a compressor. The whistling noise was coming from the BOV gasket, the air was using the gasket as a whistle, I happened to have a new gasket lying around and this fixed the whistling. Found four boost leaks at the same time which are now all fixed! So far no stalling or whistling of any kind
