Looking for some help on what to do with my current car situation I currently own Series 1 106 Rallye - restored and hopeful investment Suzuki sj - hoping to sell once I am home Clio 172 converted kangoo van - meant to be my useful daily Mk2 golf vr6 turbo - using as a daily race car/thinking about selling, will need the rear strut towers, battery trays, filler cap surround and possibly a scuttle panel welding in the not too distant future
I'm not too sure I want to put the money/time doing the work myself on the golf, so I am thinking about selling despite it being a car I love and think I will regret selling What would you do? Would you sell?
Once the sj and the golf are away, I am thinking about buying a bay window camper as it's something I've fancied for a while, and the potential is there for it to be an investment.
The other thing worth mentioning, is I'm currently saving for a house(not buying any time soon unless the perfect house popped up!) but again, what would you do? Save for the house and not buy a replacement, or buy a bay with the thought if they keep going up in value, you won't be able to afford one once a house is on the cards

From a wise life experience - keep one retro motor - sell the rest - save a lot more money a lot sooner and go purchase your property - you can buy cars / campers and replenish your fleet later in life and no way is camper going to gain in the same value has a property - do it while you can and while property prices are still within your grasp price wise - otherwise you are either going to end up living with your parents or wasting a load of money on renting a pad when you could be paying off a mortgage and owning your own place. Yes it may be fun owning a handful of retro motors and aspiring to something better but owning the roof over your head is probably a more critical factor.

What he said^^^
Keep one retro daily, sell the rest and buy a house.
If you buy a bunch of cars instead you'll look back in twenty years and kick yourself.
House is more important and you can always buy cars later. Plus appreciation on a camper vs a house is barely anything at all

Thanks for the reply so guys, that is the sort of thing I was looking for, advice from people who have been there and done it... I knew the house was the sensible option, but I just wanted to see what others thought
I've always been told by a few friends that once I have a house, then I won't have money to be 'wasting' on cars as they say
But surely this isn't the case if you live within your means when it comes to buying a house?
If going down that route, my plan was to keep the 106 and the kangoo, as like I say I'm hoping for the 106 to be an investment aswell as a car I love, and the van is handy for a daily

*NEVER* own more than two cars you love. Any more is absolutely impossible to manage. You drive one, then it annoys you for some reason - so you drive another, then you break something on that one so then you drive the third, then don't like it anymore for no reason other than you have seen something else you want to buy. Then repeat, with either an extra car or another broken car.

The most important thing you need is off-road space. There's a guy near me who is into mx5's and I really feel for the guy when he is removing rear axles, on the road in the pouring rain.
I have always had two cars - never work on both at the same time! Gotta keep one going to fetch parts for the other

Yeah, one of my main wants is a big driveway and garage, or enough room to build a big garage As for collecting parts, that was another reason for getting the kangoo

That sounds like the way to go, was always worried I wouldn't have money for cars after getting a house but should be possible if living within ones means... Here it is mate, have you got any of yours?
