but she was sold to someone that will love and care for her as much as i did. She deserved more use and attention than i could give her, since at the time I had 4 cars. Yeah, so that didnt happen. Effie got tucked into a shed, where her registration status was forgotten about, and it lapsed, meaning she can no longer be driven on the road without having a full re-registration undertaken. For most cars this would be the death of them, its not worth the time, money and effort. I have been in touch with the owner offering any help he needs to get through the process (as I have done it recently), and although he says he will do it, I'm not crossing my fingers. This is the only car I solidly regret selling, and would kill to buy her back (but i cant offer this to the owner as they will no doubt still think its worth decent money, when with no registration, its worth scrap money).

Has the reg lapsed for more than 2 years already? You used to be able to pay it back update within that time (admittedly it's years since I was in NZ) is it going to be a nightmare to get re-vind?

Since the car isn't over 40 years old it's 12 months without registration before it lapses, which happened back in December. Once it's lapsed the only way back onto the road is a re-vin. It shouldn't be too hard to get it through the revin, but it's anyone's guess what might pop up during the very thorough inspection, and even with no repairs needed it's about $600 and a couple of days to do. Usually people put it in the too hard basket.

Right, i've just spend a considerable amount of time fixing all the broken images in the first few pages. Hopefully that was all of them. Cant stand it when people leave threads to die with broken photos.
