Well time for a small update, I have been slowly been getting the parts together so I can assemble the engine and I now have all the parts need to start assembly. First up a photo of the parts got so far to build the engine.

Next was in was the cam bearings.

The cam was now installed with the new timing gear and timed up.

Then the pistons and rods here fitted.

Next the heads were fitted along with the pulleys and brackets.

At this point I could not go any further with the build as I am now waiting some parts to arrive from the states ( correct length pushrods and new oil pump ), so I mocked up the inlet and the headers to get a feel of what the engine will look like when done.

The rockers will be installed when the pushrods arrive other than that the only jobs left to do on the engine are to drill the inlet and fuel rails for the injectors and fit all the sensors for the EFI conversion.
All the clearances were checked when the engine was assembled and the pushrod length was checked with an adjustable pushrod so I could get the correct contact patch on the valve tips.
The final build on the engine stands as:
351c bored +.060 Crank reground and worked on Speed pro hyper pistons Eagle con rods Lunati 411A1 Cam (30320511) Crower EDM metered flat tappet mech lifters Cloyes 9 way adjustable roller timing set Trick flow pushrods Comp cams guide plates Pioneer harmonic damper ( SFI rated ) Flowkooler waterpump Flowkooler high flow thermostat ( correct type ) Four seasons water neck Speedmaster alloy cylinder heads ( been heavily worked on ) Lunati valve springs ( to be fitted when the cam is bed in ) matching caps for above springs Speedmaster inlet to match heads ( to be modified for injectors ) Speedmaster four barrel throttle body ( not that bad just needs a little finishing ) Comp cams lash caps ( the speedmaster stainless steel valves do not have a hardened tip ) Scorpion 1.73 roller rockers Ford motorsport alloy rocker boxes ARP bolts used in all the important places ARP hardened oil pump drive shaft Sealed power standard oil pump Oil restrictors fitted to cam bearing feeds All bearings are Clevite ( the crank uses HD bearings ) Modified Blackjack headers
The engines compression ratio worked out at about 9.8 to 1
When I have got the engine build finished I will be putting in the car and after this I can finish all the wiring and put the interior together. I will be looking to change the axle ratio soon and once I am happy the gearbox is working correctly I will be changing the torque converter to one that matches the cam.

Well time for a very late update. Picking up where I left off, having got the engine more or less together I thought it was time to start making some of the bits for the EFI conversion. I started with sorting out the crank trigger wheel, this was made using a generic 36-1 missing tooth wheel onto which I need to fix some guides to make it stay central on the damper when fitted behind the crank pulley. Next I made the sensor bracket. Then I need to make a bracket to fit the LS2 truck coil packs. and as I forgot to post it last time a photo of the rockers. I now needed to drill and tap the fuel rail blanks that I had bought. With this done the next job which was begging to be done was to sort out the rev counter. As I going to use EFI on the car the output for the rev counter was not compatible with the factory movement. To sort this out I managed to find on the internet a circuit diagram for building an adjustable rev counter. I then had to strip out the movement from an old smiths rev counter and make a bracket to fit this in my dash. With this done I could of used the smiths pointer but this would of looked wrong, so I made a new pointer using a scrap of aluminium which I filed to size and shape and then glued to the smiths pointer boss and then balanced it and lastly painted it the correct colour. I have also made the brackets and fitted a pair of electric fans to the radiator and also fitted the stainless steel exhaust tips. After doing these jobs I thought it was about time to work on the rear axle, as all I wanted to do was fit new bearings and change the CROWN wheel and pinion to a better ratio I did not think that this was going to be a hard job, WRONG, on taking the third member apart I had a nice surprise waiting for me. That's right a broken rear pinion support. So that led to me spending more than I wanted to on this little lot. I decided to go for: Strange engineering nodular iron pro case Strange engineering alloy Daytona bearing support Strange engineering 1350 steel yoke Timken bearings Motive gear 3.75:1 CROWN wheel and pinion Eton Truetrac LSD and a Spicer u-joint to connect my existing prop-shaft to the new yoke. The only agro I had is that as I did not have a inch pound wrench for setting the preload so I needed to buy one, and I did buy one, and waited two weeks to get to me and then it went missing in the post ( courier said he delivered it at 5 in the morning ). I then had to get onto the supplier to get a refund, I managed to get one locally in the end. A bit of a fiddle getting the mesh on the gears right but I am happy with what I ended up with. With this done I could button the axle up. And fit it back in its home. Another job I have done is to fit a gearbox oil cooler. A final photo of the engine bay as it stands at the moment. The next job I have got to do is sort the leak in the trunk out ( I have got to find where the leak is coming from ).

Nice to see progress again. You might find that trans cooler will overcool in cold weather (assuming it will get driven this time of year). I know how much those axle bits cost - been there myself. True Trac is a good choice.

At least you found the broken support at the cheap end of the project, i.e., not at speed.

I am sorry this not an update on the car But I got to vent a bit. I do not know if I have mentioned this before but I live not to far from the Essex side of the LTC ( it passes about a half mile from my house ) I have been to the different meetings about this and put my point across that I thought that it was a bad idea ( same as 99% of the local people ) but would have to live with it as the DofT had already made its mind up on the route but as it did not directly affect me I had no say.
This morning though I got a letter from the DofT saying that they are going to put a road right through my front garden and drive ( as well as my neighbours ) to serve as an access road for the building work, and according to the plans I will lose all of my parking and garden as the access way will be about 40 t0 50 foot wide with construction vehicles going right pass my front door. Also according to the paperwork they do not have to offer any compensation for this as it will only be temporary ( for the time of the construction project ) then I might get my drive and garden and parking back but they will retain permanent access though my property, on top of all this the letter also states I might be able to claim for blight damage and sell the house to the DofT but only at a price of there choosing.
The really annoying thing is, as my mum passed away the year before last the house is now too big for me and my dad and we had spent most of last year getting the house ready to sell ( only had the kitchen to sort ) and where looking to put it up within the next six months, but this has new put a stop to that as any new buyer would find out about this, plus this is going to massively devalue the house ( going from 6 parking spots to 0, loosing the front garden and having construction vehicles going past the front door morning and night ).
There is a mobile consultation van setting up locally tomorrow so I will be going around to let them know that I am not happy about this, I will also try to get in touch with my local MP ( Jackie Doyle Price ) but I do not know what good that will do, on top of this I will get in touch with the local village forum as the plans also state that the road that I live in will be used for construction vehicles, but the road has a 7 1/2 ton weight limit and is very narrow in some places.
But the way things are going it looks like I am going to get served a turd sandwich and have to enjoy it .
I now know how Arthur Dent felt ( looks for vogons ).

Bumhats, and then some. Hope you get a fair value for the property if that’s the way you go. By way of diverting you how’s the mustang ? Looking good so far. James
Edit LTC is the Lower Thames Crossing for those who are not local - took me a moment to work out what it was

This annoys me no end!!! That these situations can occur, ok. But just sending a letter that asof then and then you will have to suffer this and that. Add to that no compensation though you are obviously (financially, emotionally and functionally) hurt by this... That is just so wrong. It's almost criminal that authorities can get away with this. Shows no concern no care of any kind for theit citizens.
Sorry didn't want to throw fuel on the fire...
I wish you strength to deal with these (insert curse words)

I really feel for you as we're about to have a similar argument with out local council as they want to build a place for gypsys etc on scrub land they don't own that's 2 mins from my house which is mainly residential and wonder why we are getting upset!
Hopefully you'll have more luck with your local MP.
going back to the mustang - it's great work and I look forward to seeing the EFI conversion progress

I know a couple of people who have been in similar positions (both related to housing developments), its all about cost so they initially try in on to see what they can get away with, the trick is apparently to make as much fuss as possible and take all sorts of legal actions threats etc to slow them down, delays cost them millions so they usually roll over with a reasonable settlement to make you go away.

Thanks for the advice everyone, I will be rattling a few cages over this as I am extremely annoyed over the handling of this all by the various departments involved. I have also spoke to one of my other neighbours and as he happens to be a lawyer and he will getting further advice as well, plus one of the neighbours down the road from me there son is one of the people running the committee against the crossing so I will be having a few words with him as well. I have looked at the blight leaflet you can download and it states to claim blight on your property caused by the crossing or its works you must first try to sell your property at its correct market value and only if you cannot sell it because of the blight they might buy it from you ( but you have to prove that the blight is the reason that you cannot sell it ) the other problem is trying to get the property valued now is that as these plans are now available it will impact the marketable value of the house. Also the DofT can also do a counter claim on you if as in my case they are only taking ground not the property and offer a sum for the ground which is affected instead of the property which is affected, a sum which is decided by them!.
On the car front I have done a few small jobs, namely fixing the speakers and fitting them in the car as well as making a new parcel shelf to hide them ( I have got to find the photo's ) other than that not much has been done due to the bad weather and my health being bad ( been ill with flu like symptoms since October last year on top of my other health problems ).
Again thanks everyone, now where is that towel ( still looking for those Vogons ).

Really sorry to hear this. I hope that with a bit of investigation and maybe some sabre rattling you get a happy ending to this sudden nightmare.
I've just read the front end of this thread. The work you've done on your Mach1 is nothing short of amazing. I am in awe.
Keep going. don't let the b4astards get you down.

I have experience of a similar nature from when the M25 was widened a few years ago. My house was impacted by the widening work over 18 months - pile driving, severe ground vibrations, massive vegetation removal etc which not only caused cracks to appear in the house, but also delivered the effect of increased noise and decreased air quality due to vehicle emissions. Long story short is that after engaging with everyone involved from the CROWN Estate, DoT, Highways Agency, councils, MPs, Skanska the contractor and even their insurers and loss adjusters I ended up receiving the sum total of zero. Blight was refused, compensation for damage was refused; it was all about money and none of it was going to end up in the hands of those affected. I eventually sold the house after 2 years on the market and for £250,000 less than it's original value.
My advice - don't consume yourself with it. Do what you can, but expect between little and nothing. It's not worth your time and stress to pursue these people as they have everything so well tied up. And they really don't care!

My wife's parents next door neighbour had one of these identical to your first post pictures. I'm pretty sure it even had the same sagging rear spoiler as your one. Didn't buy it from Sussex did you?
