I saw you advertise it on FB. It would be such a shame after all the work you put in. I’d be tempted but probably out of my budget and got loads of others to finish including a t16 rover 200 mk3.

Where are you getting lower sills from? I had to do mine in short sections welded together!

cv boot stretched and stuck on, piece of exhaust tube that will be welded to the bulkhead so i can still use the column tilt function and have no crud get inside the car 
 
UJ and column reassembled, while tapping the bearing back on i also shortened the crash sleeve inside so just got to tap that back out to length 


blocked down level, this is one of the last layers blocked with guide coat to show low spots, wont be seen after its stone chipped and then side skirts 

isolator coat on for now, some annoying amount of effort to keep the bodyline nice just behind the door ontop of the sills but after 3 years sills on and wiped off the board of stuff to do

ebay had a sale bought a "few items"


2/3 of the poly bush set for the rear 



off the top of my head all new items.... front discs, pads, calipers pad fitting kit, wheel bearing, ball joints, track rods +ends, rack boots, rear discs, handbrake shoes +fitting kit and wheel bearings and handbrake cables



i bought a complete rear end to rebuild but, this isnt the one i bought and paid for, alot worse so i don't know about that yet

Well after a few unfortunate events shes back to being worked on, has iggy blue panels now




one of the first issues to go at gettign engine sat in its final position before tunnel goes in, NA subframe in the middle with turbo ones on either side, gained manifold clearance without chopping out and gained a chunky extra brace point in each corner but not all positives


lots of clearance there now but rack boots will need a heat shield, these are swollen so looks worse here


idea of raptor manifolds- flange 2.25" to 2.5" adaptor then flexi and onto 2 over axle bends, need to extend so straight section will pass under gearbox mount (need to make new one with revised height) then extend the loops to join up  centrally



out with the old 24mm steel plate temp spacers and in with factory 30mm forrester items 


same for rear from 24mm to 30mm spacers to correct height differences 


a downside is il have to buy another set of GD wishbones and bushes as the GC items i have here are now incorrect 


should sound nice in the end, i have 2 res and a normal box for each side that i can hopefully sneak into the available spaces with quad tips

Bit of a boring update but one none the less


new lower rear gearbox mount took more hours then i care to admit

started off with a piece of 50x50x3 box but to same length as the old (using as a rough guide)  measured exhaust manifold distances and how they sit in relation to the mount, hole saw the sides out and chopped out between with a grinder


tube section welded in, only just bigger then the 2.5" exhaust pipe 


chopped excess off, shape looks off as the radius wasnt edged in till later 



end up with this 



Even with the gearbox shimmed up abit the exhaust still hand wy to low after lifting the front subframe, ended up lifting the rear by around 43mm 



mount pieces  are also 50x50x3 box cut with 45degree ends and centre chopped out so its much stronger then the older flat car with some triangles welded on 


top chopped out to gain and extra 3mm of clearance and a better overal item 

not the prettiest but shes a goodun


also cut off 20mm either end so i have some space to run lines next to the chassis legs


out of order pic but tops welded in and holes drilled exact 10mm, after final strip for prep pant etc i will enlarge holes .5mm to allow wiggle room



all wleding work, cooling and linishing was done with clamped and tacked to a piece of C channel to minimalise warpage as alot of stress cut out and welded in to one side of the tube


with swapping mounts out and lifting it the positioning did change so i had to do this, 25mm ID tube as a reinforcer keeps the studs being exposed under the centre and in the impact zone


the other side, 5mm plate welded in after having it dropped down 10mm to give be ideal height but this causes more issues else where which is my next job 

finished item (other then paint) in place and with the kein mount, gains me around 2" of extra clearamce  under the centre, manifolds and flexis are still low but not much can be done there but atleast they are in the wheel footprints for bumps



i have 2 boxes for the space either side of the diff and 2 more res boxes for after the rear subframe, should sound glorious with an X pipe 


unfortunately for a previous incident i did damage the tail housing which il have  to unstraighten and sort as i don't want to spend out big money for using casings or a new gearbox 


as I'm now using a new age subframe from last post ive obtained ali front arms and bought the correct front poly bushes to suite too 


also got some nicely fitting rear exhaust tips, i have the same for the other side


with the sale of my awd bmw bits ive also gone and got a new MS3X ecu to run the engine which should control bos the avls and avcs not to mention if i wanted to turbo it down the line it wouldnt be an issue...
