i didnt get upto too much over the weekend only had a few hours on it, got the boot floor welded in and took all the sound proofing out of the car, another job i don't enjoy doing also got repair piece off another rover and stitched it back into place on the quarter panel, upper and right edges joggled to make it a tad easier to get into place without blowing half a million holes not the prettiest of weld but nothing a grinder cant sort (hassle of big welder and thin material) most of it is covered by a trim piece anyway Slapped on some filler to set and buggered off home Ash

gone abit of bodywork done today filling in dints and the repair panel etc the masking tape? those who know, know havent done te bodywork right down to the bottom as will more then likely get burnt off when the new sills finally get made bit ott with the red lead thats probably older then me (the good stuff) will have to go over it again The curse word i have to do to roll the arches as the cars too low, strut off and blocks of wood/seam sealer can to get it all to work, messy job too with the paint and seam sealer under the lip Ash

Did some more on it today, slapped some isolator on both rear quarter panels, laid it on thick A few underside shots of the rear end As you can see the front differential is mounted to a section of box (still has to be plated in this end) that goes through the chassis and is directly welded onto the sill tube made a pair of these up for the trailing arms, had some help from my good friend scott as motivation is somewhat lacking currently and ends up like this, arm is adjustable but might have to take an inch out of it to make it to get the wheels to sit correclty, ended up taking all this back off to clean it up for rust treater on the surface rust and red lead under the wheel arches and in boot Ash

As an ex Rover and current Impreza owner I'm all over this like a tramp on hot chips!
Superb work, really looking forward to watching it come to fruition.

spent a little bit o time on the rover over the weekend, mainly to put it back together so it can go outside for the week (will be a lack of updates) Ive dropped the front subframe down temporarily on some shims to help the propshaft angle currently no pics of this gave the underside and under arches a blowing over with some silver paint then with schultz 2 coats under arches and 1 coat under the car with an extra spray over the seams, i don't put it on too thick so there is a nice texture to it, all threads and little bits like brake line holders taped up so it doesnt look a mess pic of the back end, some fairly steep driveshaft angle but would like to go lower tyre size is 225 40 18 still plenty of room under arch might drop the profile down Ash

Got the car back in on the ramp, had a few hours on it but motivation is lacking Chopped the yoke off the driveshaft and shortened it around an inch to get it in place for now making the rear gearbox mount up, started with abit of box chopped and plated it in so the mount can sit in place and added some tabs and reinforcers so i could bolt it upto the body at a later date double skinned the bottom for extra strength mounts up like this, can see the large plate on the underside of the car, this will be welded in along with a plate inside the car that will go to the wishbone mount infront of the gearbox mount to tie it all in Ash

I spy a 5 stud conversion. Them hairpin wheels were 4 stud on 16s or 5stud if you went full fat.

This is amazing! Worth it for the 5 stud conversion alone, thought I was the only person in the country who thought the 18" Hairpin would look great on these! Also love how authoritively incorrect people's opinions get with Rovers! Being British most people have an instant negative opinion. But basically as someone said old Honda front chassis mated to maestro rear with a 'bubble' body penned in the early 90's Maybe if rover had thought about fixing the k series from day one rather than ignoring the problem for near 20 years their reputation might have held! Anyways crack on with this crazy build

I had a bubble 200 with the 1.8 k series. Loved that car. Wish I never sold it. Nippy, handled well with very little front and rear overhang and relatively wide track. Comfy too.
