So much want. www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C1155683 Supercharged retro estate goodness. Seemingly with good mechanicals and flat grey paint. I had a project one (just the 2l) 20 years ago, but it got scrapped when I lost my garage and the backyard resto place I took it to discovered more holes than metal. I don't think I can get 4.5k past the wife though it's probably the last opportunity to buy one of these. I seem to have contacted the seller and asked for more pictures. It's a bit scabby around the edges, and the paint is very very flat. To make it really presentable it would need a full respray as well as dealing with the scabby bits. The interior is quite good though. It's no surprise - if it was mint then it would be at least twice the price. I don't think it will fit in my garage as is. It's so close that it might if I took the bumpers off (is there such a thing as a power bulge in a garage door? ). Gonna have to get the tape measure out again... I seem to have put a deposit down for this. A significant discount, and an agreement with my wife that she can spend an equivalent amount on her project, and now I need to clear the garage out and collect it (in 8 days time).

Not gonna change too much because it's so rare, but I've already been looking at wheels. 😉

Good on yer. Well there’s a guy I work with had one of these and stripped the parts off the shell to weld and spray it only to have the shell nicked off his drive so he now has all parts for a Beta but no body shell. 😂

Hyundai Pony Sonnet X2. Devon. £1K 1993. Very low mileage. MOT'd Feb 21. Drives. Has been laid up for extended period. No horror stories in MOT history. 26yrs ago there were 2.7K of these on UK roads, now there's just 4 with 16 on SORN. Vauxhall Victor. Lancs. £1,400.00 [SOLD]1966. This car clocked up 43K miles over 29 years and was put to bed for quarter of a century. Lots of scabbing to bodywork but interior looks mint. Humber Hawk. Wilts. £2,250.00 [SOLD]1952. Project. Mk IV or V? Very rare survivor. Low mileage. Last MOT in 2011 details 'blue smoke' ?engine wear? Rover P6 2000. N Yorks. £1K [SOLD]1972. Parked up unused in garage for 24 years. Elderly owner has just gone into care. Chevvy Blazer rhd. Yorks. £3,795.00 1999. Short MOT, might need work for next pass. Morris Mini Traveller Mk 1. Northamptonshire. £5K 1967. Complete & running project.

XJ6 Gold. ?Notts? £1,200.00 1994. Some welding in 2006 but mainly clean passes and low annual mileage in recent years. I was stating on a different thread that XJ40s are usually bangers at this sort of money, this looks like it might be the exception? Opel Olympia estate. S Africa. £4½K 1962. Alfa Romeo 146 T-Spark 1.8. W Sussex. £3K 1997. Low mileage. Drives, MOT'd. Parked up for 8 years prior to recommissioning, apparent indifference to maintenance prior to that. There are 26 of these left in the UK, this is one of only 7 on the road.

I'd love a 146 v6. Alfa just got the styling so right on them.

Well bought, it only took 14 pages of this thread! Get it on build threads and good luck!! A build thread will appear when I've collected it. Not gonna change too much because it's so rare, but I've already been looking at wheels. 😉 Posting on the train on the way home. The structure looked solid, the engine sounded good, but there was "surface rust" on pretty much every panel, including all round the sunroof and around the windscreen. I don't mind that someone had painted it flat grey (where the original paint was showing through it looked like a nice colour). A few bits of rust were expected, but I reckon to pay to get it to a good place, it would cost twice the asking price! I don't have the skills to do it all myself, or the cash to get done properly. I've been there and done that and had a pile of rusty junk in the garage that depresses me. Head ruled heart. Still makes me sad.

Not bothered about the Merc but the other 3 are all very sensibly priced - the Armstrong Siddeley is very cheap and a good project but you can loose more than an shirt restoring this type of stuff and they are worth peanuts when completed but hell of a project - the little Peugeot would be an ideal starter modern classic and the Mazda is very, very rare (probably rarer than the Armstrong Siddeley) and still at sensible money

With a lot of investment it could look as good as this; That little 106 has got everything going for it except a long MOT. That Mazda, apart from being rare, is a real looker! And the Merc, of no interest to me personally but it has been looked after and is cheap enough for what it is.

When you look at what similar Italian 'sporty minis' are going for now (eg Fiat 127 sport and 127 GT) - not to mention Coopers etc - that's not a bad price. Very interesting and appealing little car.

I remember back in the early to mid 90s, the local taxi firms had a few of these Montego Diesel Estates. They used to be everywhere, and now it's such a rarity to see one, especially one with MOT and in use!
