Interesting stuff from "Car & Classic" :- Freshest stuff is furthest down the thread. Porsche Spyder kit for recommissioning. Suffolk. £9,900.00 Porsche Spyder kitWith a good paint job & attention to the interior this could be awesome. Ford Escort Mk 1 estate project. Suffolk. £3,150.00 Mk 1 Escort estateHens teeth. Could make an original looking but deceptively fast classic with upgrades!

Project: Family owned low mileage Austin Allegro 1300 SDL garaged for many years. Norbury. £450.00. On the basis of the (poor quality) photos it looks to be fairly sound. No MOT & not driven in 15 years. It's an early car so has the infamous quartic steering wheel. I reckon this could probably be recommissioned & go through the MOT without major expense.

Being a 1275cc, I expect the engine will be removed for a Mini, then the rest put on ebay, either without an engine, or a 998cc engine fitted.

As said the Allegro will break for more than that just from the engine assuming it's running. As for the Stag that is cheap car. No doubt it will be broken for that money assuming it's original.

The Stag was on in September so that won't still be around. I'd like to think someone will save this Allegro, it's worth saving & having owned one for several years in the mid 1980's I feel that they're much maligned. If someone is handy with a spanner & perhaps able to do a spot of welding I'm sure you'd have this Allegro back on the road for under £1K, (including purchase price), as long as the engine is OK. The 1300 A series usually soaks up 100K miles+ unless abused. With a process of ongoing improvement this could be a really nice quirky little car.

Austin Allegro 1300 HL ESTATE Sussex. £1,650.00. Low mileage, practical classic. Like hen's teeth, the epitome of 'Retro Ride' and looks to be a bargain to boot. So uncool they're cool!

The interior of that A40 farina looks a very plush place to be for the money....begging for an engine and box swap plus some upgraded suspension and brakes for a subtle and elegant sleeper.

Morris Marina 1300 Coupé. Staffs. £1,500.00 For recommissioning, described as 'very solid'. MOT expired Dec '17. This car has regularly been having LOTS of work done for MOT including welding. It is showing a mileage of under 12K, I don't know if this is 'around the clock', i.e. 112K but for years it has only been doing very low miles so it may be a low mileage car, some years the mileage was probably only to the MOT centre and return trip. Probably belongs / belonged an old-timer who has stopped driving or died? Could be a genuine good old fashioned bargain?!

I always liked the Marina Coupe shape, it was a shame the running gear went back to the Ark and they didn't hatchback it.

I always liked the Marina Coupe shape, it was a shame the running gear went back to the Ark and they didn't hatchback it. If you had to have a Marina, the Coupé was probably the way to go and the 1800 TC was about as exciting as it was going to get, (which probably makes the 1300 car rarer over all). There was an ad for a stunning 1800 TC Coupé a year or two back, a hefty £8½K but was a no expense spared £20K restoration; retrorides.proboards.com/thread/189119/peoples-opinion-on-morris-marina?page=6&_ga=2.84445465.1827785707.1515356761-1261768112.1513276075The performance was always a bit pedestrian given the capacity & twin carbs. This award winning Crayford convertible (currently available at a mere £12K) is one of the few cars that might give the mint Coupé above a bit of competition;

Shōgun / Pajero Mk 1 (L040) lwb. Sussex. £2,200.00 Last MOT'd 5 years ago. Barn find. Looks remarkably solid & clean with low mileage but almost certainly requires some welding. SZD (SMZ) S3D. Lithuania. £1,200.00. A twin pot, air-cooled 30mph microcar built for disabled Soviet WW2 veterans, (hence hand controls on steering wheel). Ever seen one? To give an idea of scale;

Maestro diesel van. W Sussex. £650.00 Drives, long MOT. Recent work. This has the Perkins 2 litre Prima diesel which was agricultural but very frugal, returning nearly 100mpg.
