In some cases. In others there is definitely a case of "I am trying to do it, but I kinda missed the point" going on. But thats true of everything,.... ever. Bands, cars, clothes, TV, comedy... anything... Only bother thinking about those people that get the point... those that don't you can try and help get the point.. complaining about them achieves nothing (which is why I try and avoid "I don't like it" threads )...

but what is 'the point' anyway?
The 'point' is to drive old cars. full. stop. nothing else.

Nah, the real point is to do it anyway regardless of what me and some other people say, cos what we say doesnt matter. Just like my point is to do what I want, and sod what anyone else thinks. ;D My last word on it I do stuff (even aesthetic stuff) because I think its cool Not because it's cool. If I did stuff just because it was cool then I'd be un cool. If I do things because I think its cool , then thats ok. Can you not see the subtle difference there at all? Like why do you like that band? Because its cool to like that band. whereas the right answer is: Why do you like that band? Because I think they're cool. theres a difference. and so, my reason for not likeing them, is because I think there are too many people with roof racks and stuff piled on them because its cool to do that, and not doing it because they think its cool.

How do you like my skip find - neighbours love me! And yes it whistles at 80 (on a private road). Stuck two old wings on the roof to take to the tip and reduced cruising speed to 50!

At last a 'Hoodride'/'ratlook' Seat Leon. I wonder which would be considered 'cooler', A 53 plate mondeo with a roof rack full of tat and some Ebay 'retro' stickers or a chevette dropped on 8x13s without a roof rack?

In some cases. In others there is definitely a case of "I am trying to do it, but I kinda missed the point" going on. But thats true of everything,.... ever. Bands, cars, clothes, TV, comedy... anything... absolutely. ANd cars have the advantage that someone elses "miss" can often be made into a "hit" with a little rework. Unless they seriously ballsed it up.

...i´m not to sure whether they are cool or not but i think they look better on vans or estates rather on cars. Picked this up last week on German ebay, it´s an original one fron 1960, made of steel and will give us a perfekt view from above when we go to the next "Bergrennen"... all i need now is a ladder and they are most definately not cool!!

but what is 'the point' anyway? The 'point' is to drive old cars. full. stop. nothing else. the point is to be happy. As with all things. Only do it if it makes you happy. I drive cars I like. I do stuff to some of them. Not to others. Some pepple like my cars. Other people don't Rest of the time I'm bitchin on the interwebby 'cos I can.

Exactly ... Or the Chevette that Rob built Keep this quiet, and obviously I don't want to knock someone else's hardwork. But I never really saw the appeal of that chevette. I always prefered the look of nightmare's Gulf styled kadet.

I think the appeal is that it encapsulated a look/style at exactly the right time. Exactly like he has done with his Toyota. He can absorb whats going on and spit it back out as a complete car. Nightmares is on his own tip, taking in whats going on around him and spitting it out. Their skill in producing cars is the same but from different directions I'd say. As an outside looking into their mental processes. I love it all. But you knew that about me already.

I've just been over to the redaers rides section, i'd like to clarify the red one rocked and the blue one less so. What i've posted above is my opinion and could be incorrect.

I like that golf and I like ironic, tribal, rat, 60's, 70's, 80's, rust, chrome, wooden, metal roof racks, so there. I can't explain why I like em I just do. Then again theres lots of stuff that before retro-rides I would have said "thats curse word" but now I go "Mmmmm I like that". I think RR is brain washing me

I think we are digging too deep again, these neggish turned threads always end up with argueish discussions, and conclusive answers sought! I do things, I want to, I may think it looks cool to me, or nice, or different, or just cos i had a dream witha wierd vehicle I had to build, inspiration comes from everywhere, and i don't care if what i do is cool, by having this mentality it kind of makes me cool even if other will mock etc! others do too, and of course, some do things cos they look cool, or they think they do. This is retro rides, i think most of us here are pretty much doing our own thing in harmony because we can, diversity and an open mind is the best thing about here. Luckily we are not sheep. Take inspiration, and do YOUR thing.... PS: TRG's rally rack was a good idea

it doesn't matter if it's a Morris Marina or a Toyota Celica - it's what you do with it that counts
