Phil - That's a very neat solution - looks factory to me - except it probably left the factory with plastic mirrors rather than chrome ones - but you know where I'm coming from Thanks, ironically the original mirrors were chrome and in an almost identical position but over the three pairs that I had they were either pitted or dented or damaged plastic mounts / joints so it made sense to buy brand new custom mirrors for less than the repairs / rechrome on original mirrors would have cost.

Mirrors look great, much better than the originals (IMO) and nicely in keeping with the new look.

2 days of lock down reading, excellent build, kind of 3 trucks, stock with wide wheels, developing dropped builders sort of rat truck developing till full rebuild into excellent show truck. liked them all loved the look with just the front dropped like that stance. you have an excellent eye for attention to detail. I have to ask what next?

I have to ask what next? Appreciate your comment and glad you found it worthwhile reading it all! In terms of the truck I have a few things to do in the bed area which should keep me going for the year. The plan was to show it as many places as possible but lookalike that will be a plan for 2021 now. At least it will still be a fresh build for most people, just a year on. Come 2022 I think I’ll be replacing the Ignis with something that can act as a daily and as something to tow the Acty to shows further afield. Probably an estate as I’ve never owned one despite estates being one of my favourite shapes of cars.

Please do a mk1 cactus next 😁 It’s on the potentials list. I really want one (I was seriously considering one but, V8 won lol), ideally one with a blown engine so it can have a 1.6thp dropped in.

Thanks, I’m originally from Walsall so even closer! I plan to alternate years of national shows with years of local shows so 2021 National and 2022 local so the same groups of people don’t see the truck year after year at the same shows.

Sorry to hear that. Had a few good nights in both the bell and the beacon before they became more eating pubs than drinking pubs. They were both walking distance to me during my early pub going years until I moved away in 1997.

On Saturday I painted over the drill holes and also where the mirror clamps had taken the paint back to primer... Last night I squirted some of the bilt hamber anti corrosion wax in the door quarters in the drill holes and behind them too, I also squirted it around where I’d drilled into the bed for the fuel tank filler, I was surprised how little excess mess was left to wipe up. After work today, typically in the first rain we’ve had for at least a month, I took the Acty to get petrol for the first fill up since fitting the new tank. It takes 17 litres. A nice 3 mile drive followed, with a small moment of panic when it started to cut out until I remembered to push the choke in. Parked up awaiting black vinyl to be applied to the upper door frame tomorrow to hide where I’ve touched up the damage...

Love what you have done with this, have you not thought of investing in a Airbrush and small compressor for touching up areas like you have mentioned above. They are pretty easy to get the hang of and offer much more precise control compared to rattle cans. Also have you considered getting a Metal Flake steering wheel(colour matched obviously)think it would look great with the exterior, Something like this....

Cheers for the suggestions herusix but I don’t trust myself to go anywhere near it with any paint other than brush applicated as I know I’ll get overspray on an otherwise perfect car. As for the steering wheel I can see where you’re coming from but I’ve tried to keep modifications as subtle as possible for now. Maybe if I had some kind of striping done then that would suit but I like my current steering wheel, albeit I will go to brown leather at some point.
