Sorry I've been missing for a while, life / family / etc. 2016 will be the year I come back with a bang, RR speaking. Check out my latest arrival! It is a horrifically minging Volvo 740, which leaks water and smells like it has sat in a swamp. But it goes ok, has an MOT and has bags of character. I plan to sort the leaks by sealing up the sunroof and removing the dodgy roof rails which are causing the issue - and sealing up the holes. Obviously, I will be lowering it, and perhaps a slight banding of the steels, but I think I should keep it looking a little scruffy.

Do you know if the 740s and 940s had the same wheels/pcd? There's some nice stainless steel wheel centres on ebay that are listed as fitting 740s that I want for my 940.

740's and 940's have the same PCD, not all cars have the same size wheel though some 740's had 14" wheels. Those trims might be the ones fitted to certain alloys Volvo fitted.
There are a few interesting and exciting way a 940 can leak that will be shared by the 740. Having the roof bars is a good place to start if they have been retro fitted. If you are certain it's leaking from the roof down it's the first place to check. The sunroofs have large drainage trays, blocked drain tubes can cause them to overflow. They do go rusty as well.
If the leak isn't obviously coming from above the most important to check is that the heater isn't leaking. There is a drain tube off the bottom of the heater box inside the car that can leak on 940's, not sure if 740's are the same.
Just ask if you need any more ideas.

Nice project, will you be doing any engine mods? I've just bought myself a 940 turbo estate which will be getting the sleeper treatment.
