Hey everybody! Thought you would like to have a look at my new car! Fresh in from Japan, she's a DR30 Skyline RS....the RS was the lightweight version of the regular Skyline, so came with very little in the way of luxuries in the interests of performance, even though they only came with 150 bhp!
This car marks a departure from my normal automotive choices- aside from a couple of mx5s, a mini and a Pug 205, I've always had German cars, initially Golfs, Corrados, Audi coupes etc, but more recently they have been 4 door saloons, such as this
. However, I had a hankering for something a bit different, so drastic action had to be taken! I sold 3 cars in 8 days, so I suddenly had a decent chunk of money to help me change direction.....but what to buy? So many cars!
I'd been looking at Japanese cars, although I knew nothing about them! I'd become aware of the increasing number of Japanese importers springing up, so I got in touch with a few and eventually went with OPJP in Bournemouth....
After some chatting with them and looking at a lot of pics on the net, I decided on an early Celica....this one in fact....
But, I'm the most indecisive person on earth and changed my mind when I saw this....
But, ultimately I decided against it! This went on for a while and I was becoming frustrated with not having a car.....then one day an R30 Skyline popped up on my Facebook feed....I'd never seen one before, knew nothing about them and had never been interested in Skylines at all......I had to have one!
So after a fair bit of chatting and searching, David and Luke at OPJP found one that suited my budget and it had mods as well! So I bought a car on the other side of the world, from my bed at midnight, all based on a few grainy photos sent from Japan.....was I mad? Probably!
So, with the money transferred, they made some arrangements and the ball was rolling! In the meantime, I started researching these unusual cars (probably should have done that before buying one!)
More later....off for my dinner ☺
