Was only ever going to get limited workshop time over the past weekend due to it being the season for all hands on deck to help with this Boy was it a warm one! Mind you the cold beer after each day tasted better and betterer Anyway, I did manage to make a start on the rear screen Which after a day in a rather warm shed, came out without a fight Mainly as it appears it was mostly held in place by copious amounts of mastic/sealant and not via the proper means... which I found very few of, and they mostly looked like this the good, or rather great news as you can see from the pic above, is that as a result the aperture surround is in remarkably solid condition - result. Next fight was one of the rear windows, which given it's hard to see/take pictures of while removing, came out with relative ease Definitely needs some tlc in places - there wasn't much left of guide bushing and the zip lock bags, sharpie and organiser are out, prepped and ready for more dismantling over the next few visits Everything needs to come off and various holes need to be drilled I believe, so will continue to work my way forwards and see what I find as I go. Big grin here at Lloyd’s business. Yo do get a lot done Sam

Been away for a few days R&R in various parts of the country so not a huge amount to update on. However as usual there has been a bit going on behind the scenes. Not sure if I mentioned it before, but I have been working on resurrecting a kart project for a good mate who used to race it with his dad many years ago. Anyway with twin boys himself now and his dad sadly no longer with us, it was time to see if the pile of parts I turned into something he could have back (and in time use with the boys) actually works. So it got liberated from the shed ready for some tinkering time at the workshop - was almost as if it was made to fit the discovery Good news is that after a bit of priming it did fire and wants to run, bad news is that the brakes need an overhaul and so that prevented any proper seated testing. With 25-30hp it should be rather rapid when it gets going! In actual Celica news, I did manage a brief bit of time to pull out the 2TG one again I now need to remove what's left in the engine bay and carry on with the stripping/tidying of the rest of the shell, as well as some of my earlier... err 'repair efforts' - you live and learn as they say. I also need to tidy the storage system so I have room to work on the next stage... which was somewhat interrupted by a few days away in Shropshire where distractions included: a visit here seeing plenty of these spending the day messing about on this and wandering around this place All for the sub-plot purpose of visiting the great bunch over at MPR to discuss a future project and collect something I'd been trying to get my mitts on since Feb, which also fitted in the discovery rather neatly and should look more like to be used on the celica like this Exciting times. I just need to finish stripping a few more parts and work out a way of joining the two together now...

I build my own rotator but this is much more sophisticated with all the adjustment posibilitys. you may know this but it is very important that the rotating axles are on the same height as otherwise a lot of stress can go into the tool andd strange things can happen

Been a while... Joys of job chaos, 150 mile house move, and worst of all a workshop consolidation and move too. We're still fetching bits nearly 6 months later 🙄🙈 So what's new? Well the celica looks a little different but it's now in its new home

Thanks gents. That looks a rather nice space to play in. It is indeed - much nicer for building than the previous environment. However let's just say that's not even scratching the surface... there's a reason we moved so far The A35 even has a nicer home Will be at a certain event next weekend so will say hello if anyone also visiting.

You mentioned the prospect of moving last year when I collected that folder from you, but you’d not decided on location at that time. Whereabouts have you ended up?

You mentioned the prospect of moving last year when I collected that folder from you, but you’d not decided on location at that time. Whereabouts have you ended up? Hi Glen Yes, we were still searching from what I recall. Think of it this way, whenever you see these property programmes on TV they have 1 or 2 sensible options and then a wildcard... yup you guessed it, we went for the latter. Other half was working locally to here that weekend and did the usual 'wonder what's available' search and came across this place previously owned by a car restorer for 32 years. She hastily arranged a viewing, I then got an excited phone call afterwards, so arranged a second viewing so I could see it, and after a few twists and turns due to COVID etc. we managed to get it in Dec and the rest is history. Decent sized house, large enough garden, but the real kicker was lots and lots of man cave/storage/garaging/workshop space, plus a spray booth. So to answer your question, that's how I now find myself living in Norfolk Before anyone says it, yes it's all very well having the space but you will fill it, I agree. A drunken vehicle purchase (long story) has already been made and might be making an appearance this coming weekend

Been a while... Seeing as I've finally got near the thing for the first time since moving 2 years ago for one reason or another, I thought a long overdue update was required Few more hard to find replacement parts have appeared, including the elusive wheel well to sort this mess out: I've also started fabricating bits ready to do battle with the next round of repairs, starting with the N/S front wing rail and a spot of CAD Before transferring to metal and then fettling as required No idea why the pics have come through in a random order but you get the idea. Nice to be back on it.

Nice fabrication work, looking forward to seeing how it all goes, What about the "drunken purchase" ?? 😁😁 Nigel Which one? Exhibit a) or b)* *technically I wasn't drunk for this one but may as well have been for agreeing to take it away at the time. Came as a kit and in need of a chassis which I have now managed to get hold of. It's joined the back of the 'queue'. Former is still ticking along nicely, I've a minor niggle to sort with the roof and then I will be moving it on as need some space for another project returning, although strictly speaking it's not mine. Merc is a delightful summer cruiser though and I really wasn't expecting to enjoy it as much as I have.
