Good luck
The phillipines are only euro 4 for new cars now (euro 6 here) the local requirement when your rangie was made must have been way below what it was built to!

Funnily, Euro 5 fuel is easily available here if you wish. Mine runs happily on whatever 95RON you stuff in it.
Petron even do a 100 octane now. Madam brimmed her Mazda 3 with the stuff, 'cos an advert said it was good. Nearly killed the poor thing. Never ran right afterwards, so got flogged on. She now puts the lowest grade in her new Geely and it's quite happy.
The other year, I was on the emissions machine next to a fairly new Toyota Something 1.3 GLSXGTi Vanden Ghia. We both passed but my, then 24 year-old-emissions, were way lower than his. Mind its last service was probably the PDI!

Too cold to do much today, I needed to put the canoe away which my son used a couple of weeks ago, it hangs in the garage roof so the TR needed to come out first, started OK and let it warm up but the cooling fan wasn't cutting in, it's done it a few times before, so I thought I would have a look, in the end it was pretty simple, a pin had pushed back in the connector to the switch. Then added some steel to the bottom of the garage doors as there was a 3 inch gap where one of the kids rabbits chewed through the plastic weather strip year s ago and we now have mouse problems in there, still need to do a bit more but it was too cold with freezing fog rolling in.

Only a couple of minor updates, oiled the speedo cable on the range rover, still noisy for the first mile or 2 but at least it then quietens down now. One thing that has been broken on the range rover ever since I got it was the door pull / armrest, it originally had big chunks missing which I filled with PU but the paint I had didn't match and it was still too weak to hold the walnut strip in. It's taken ages but I eventually found a new one for a reasonable price (£18), it's a bit yellowed not sure if that is light or tobacco stains but it looks much better and holds the walnut in fine. also fitted the air vent that used to fall out and I fixed by 3d printing new clips. And finally we have anew tool, my son has built up a small business making canvas bags for camping gear, up to now he has been using our domestic sewing machine but it's getting past it's best and is a bit slow, so he re-invested some of his profit in this: It's an industrial walking foot sewing machine, we had a play with it last night, it doesn't even notice 6 layers of leather, he is keen to have a go at making some car seat covers, one of the guys he is at uni with has a metro so they may have ago at that, if I can find an old MX5 seat cover to use as patterns we may try making a set for that as well.

Don’t suppose you know which brand exhaust went on the ka?? I’ve got the same job to do on one and it seems like a bit of a non-brand roulette... if yours fits well it’s about the best steer I could ask for!

I bought it from this outfit on ebay (all 3 parts) , the only thing that could be an issue is clearance to the back bumper, the previous owner had cut the bumper away to clear the boy racer back box so no issue for us but it does look like it could be close . (wouldn't be difficult to tweak if required though)

Brilliant, thanks. I'm not too surprised about the back bumper, most of the ones on eBay seem to shoot straight out rather than sweeping down so only having to tweak slightly is a bonus. Thanks again, really appreciate it!

Not much on the cars, infact in the last 2 weeks the range rover only moved 100yds to jump start next doors ancient polo, and the others haven't moved at all. I have though been busy building an injector test rig. So far I have made the controller, mostly out of parts I had lying around. So inside a box made out of scrap ply with a lid made out of an old bbq door there is a cheap chinese pulse generator adjustable for frequency and pulse width, a small circuit to drive the injector (couple of resistors, mosfet and a diode) plus some fuses and switches to power it all and the fuel pump . The mosfet should be able to run more injectors but that can wait. Suprsingly it works perfectly! Next up is to bolt together a mower fuel tank, fuel pump and adjustable pressure regulator then it should be all up and running.

The fuel injector rig is running, still a few tweaks to do but it works and I have managed to get all 8 of the old injectors I had working with a reasonable spray pattern. To start with some of them only flowed a few drips even at 100% duty cycle, after running a mixture of redex and white spirit through them for 10 minutes I now have what looks like a good spray pattern from 8hz 10% duty cycle (around idle) up to 100% duty cycle. The one pictued was one of the worst ones to start with just a few drips which then became a feeble jet and eventually a spray. Next thing to do will be flow them all at idle and full flow to see if they vaguely match. Problem is they are the wrong ones for the range rover, they came off a TVR and are xj6 ones which were in the day often fitted along with the xj6 air meter to improve performance. I don't have an xj6 air meter, don't really need any more power and definitely don't want it to be able to use more fuel! So they will probably be going on ebay.

That's really clever. Would love to see what the 52 year old bmc 1.8 ones go like in my boat. Starts OK to be honest but that solution you have used can't hurt.

With the impending weather forecast I gave the Range rover a going over, no real issues but the high pressure fuel line is cracking again, this came from a reputable source, anyone got a tip for a really good quality high pressure fuel line, I'm past caring what it costs!
Also fixed next doors 98 polo, he's an older gent (early 70's I'd guess) who has been in hospital with covid, now home and more or less recovered but the car had stood for a couple of months, basically it was flooded, after a bit of investigation there were 2 obvious candidates, the plug leads were rigid and covered with black scorch marks and the air cleaner looked like it had come out of a coal mine. Replaced those and it fired up instantly and idled perfectly - job done and at £40 in parts he had something to smile about! (He was going to scrap it).
Then finaly replaced the alternator / pas belt on father in laws doblo like everthing on the damn thing it was a pig of a job but got it done eventually and no more screaching.

Just spent £26 on a couple of metres of cohline 2240 R9 hopefully this will last.
The return is still the original 34 year old BL hose and seems perfect, amazing it seems impossible for so many suppliers to stock it now.

Obligatrory snow photo. Took my daughter to work in it this morning , it doesen't even notice the couple of inches we have had, usual mix of idiot drivers and those that look terrified of the snow, we followed a white van on the bumpy road to south woodham snow was drifting accross the road a bit in a few places and she pointed out he was a bit close to the van in front of him for any conditions let alone these, then when we went round a bend there was a car between them!

Been using the range rover in all the snow, no issues at all. Andrew also needed to use the minor, battery wasn't playing ball though, a jump start got it going, he's going to get a new battery this week and start on making a new cover for the back seat with his new sewing machine, one thing we are not sure about is the sprung base which seems very weak, perhaps add some sponge between the springs? I've also been playing with the 8 injectors I bought which turned out to be the wrong ones for the range rover, to start with only 3 worked at all, I have been flushing them in both directions with a redex and white spirit mixture, then I flowed them, time to flow 100ml at 100% duty cycle and 10% 9hz (around idle) this was the result Not too bad I might flush the ones which are some way out a few more times to see if I can further improve things. This all gives me hope that I will be able to do something with the ones in the car (these turned out to be jaguar xj6 ones).

Spent most of the day in the garden but did get a few minutes to change the fuel line between the rail and regulator on the range rover old one: This was replaced 2 years ago with what was supposed to be mocal line from a major UK retailer (I'll try to find the receipt) Also found a rust hole Not a major issue, all the panels around it were replaced 4 years ago, this looks like it had been patched before and I missed it.. Andrew has also decided he wants to make a wood uim steering wheel for the minor, he's also going to leave the hub as polished alloy, this is the wheel he bought with the original rim knocked off. And this is some sort of fancy burl he is using for the area around the spokes.

Seem to have a new problem, on my son's way home from work last night the minor seems to have suffered a substantial loss of oil pressure, before Christmas it was showing between 40 and 50 psi when hot, now the light is flickering off and on and the gauge reads only a a handfull of psi at idle, strangely it only achieves a max of 20psi from around 1500rpm to however hard you rev it.
No noticeable knocks or rumbles though.
My thinking is check the relief valve which is easy enough just need to pull the starter off and if this shows nothing it's engine out time, the joy is how cheap parts are worst case of, reground crank, all bearings, oil pump, gaskets and duplex timing chain come to less than £200 from a reputable supplier.

Trust the pressure is an easy fix.
Looking forward to the steering wheel build as well.

lets hope so but even if the engine has to come out it's all so simple it's not the end of the world, I'd much rather be doing this than the auto box on the range rover which went at the same time last year, I reckon we could probably get the engine out in roughly the same time it took you to get that damper changed on your P38!
