Okay...it's been over 2 months since I posted about my Mk1/and everything that happened with it. Since then not much has happened, just tracking previous owners and speaking to the Police as often as possible trying to keep updated.
No news, no updates. Until today.
Today I got the news I've been waiting for. The car is mine, not on the stolen register anymore and I'm free to do anything I want with it.

Result, good outcome so far, you must have been pulling the buttons of the seat of your chair with the cheeks of your #### whilst that lot was unfolding.
That's a monty old barge is that and it looks quite solid, certainly worth a t-cut and polish just for the hell of it.
The OSR wheel looks a little wonk, but if there is no hub on the other side I guess there is some work to be done.
So now you get to keep the car, how about the reg, that is a Coventry issue by the looks of it, so there is a chance the car might have some 'works history'.
When you get the V5 'book' might be worth paying the 'fiver' for the history, mind you, if you do, clench those cheeks again In case another Hornets nest gets rattled.

Great - I think this is the outcome you thoroughly deserved considering your sympathy for the orginal owners situation. I do think I would want some sort of written confirmation of the fact before spending a fortune on the rebuild. Really looking forward to the restoration story now |

Thanks for all the kind words guys, after everything that's happened I was a little disillusioned with the car and considered selling it on, but I've waited to long and worked to hard to let it go now! Rented myself a decent sized unit so I can crack on over the winter!

Congratulations on being the rightful owner.
