I would like to replace my Chrome BRMs because most the chrome is no longer there and they look mank. I've got some ideas and also a budget. My plan involves staying with 15"s because there's brand new tyres on the front and soon to be on the rear. I cant decide what to do, well i think i can but i'm uming and ahhing about it so i'd like some suggestion and some feedback, then i'll probably do number 2 anyhow. Heres my choices, Replace the ropey Chrome MWS BRMs with the same. +looks great -Lots of money and lead time. Black BRMs would love 17's from flat four but way to far out of my price range so 15's from MWS will have to do. I've wanted some of these on a white merc since i hade the saloon. reasonable cost at just under £400 for the set. Or possibly, Fuchs repros from MWS (can be baught in 5x112), not the greatest copies by all accounts but maybe a bit different though not sure if their design is too soft. About the same price as the black BRMs. Any other suggestions? I'd prefer new wheels, in 5x112 so no adaptor issues to worry about and cost of no more than £450 - 500. Whats out there for bay busses? Pshops welcomed!

As they're presumably alloy under the chrome, how about having them dipped & polished?

Was £50 per wheel to strip the chrome (london chroming) and another £50 to re-chrome.
Although i could get them shot blasted, a relative has offered to do this for beer money and then polish the rim and spoke edges with black or grey centers. But i'd take ages to do this and it leaves me without wheels on the car, so buying some more then refurbing these at my lesure and possibly selling to finance somthing else is the plan.

Merc CLK/SLK 5 spokes, look like american racing mags Just need a set of Bullet centres to really set them off 16 or 17" as well, would look ace polished and would probably get a set with tyres for 3-400 tops

Top grammar tips! Bought = purchased. Brought = relocated Lose = misplace/opposite of win. Loose = your mum

heres some examples of what you can get if you think outside the box a little all ebay purchases. i think any of these would look killer on your merc done in the right colour.id say black or gold centres with polished rims. i bought these for £57- genuine rays/volks/toms split rims. 5x114, front 15x7s and rears 15x8s with good tyres. and also these, £77 genuine sprint-harts, 5x114again rear 15x7.5, front 15x6.5. ile be polishing the rims and changing the colour, so they look like this example- even these were only £245- genuine rays/volks 17" splitrims, 17x8 and 17x9, front tyres are good rears are shot, but theyll still be under 350 with new tyres.

These are ace, Not feeling the love for the others though. Have just bid on these mind, no bids with a day and a half to go. Another thaught I had was to see if maching the outer rim off a set of 14" w123 factory alloys, then getting holes drilled and tapped was possible so that an outer rim from a split rim could be bolted on to give some dish.

I think that the use of wheels accosiated with the VW scene is a great twist in this cars style, and definitely one worth keeping. Even if the wheels aren't the best design, the influence adds to the cool factor to make them a great choice (Fuch replicas would also work for the same reason). I say keep the old BRMS, but have them shotblasted for that rough grey/cast look (Halibrand magnesium influences), maybe with a polished lip. Something along the lines of this finish (also Halibrand inspired, I guess): Mooneyes Speed Masters ARE Salt Flats Get detailing!

Now to find some wobble bolts, hope they fit over my center bore, 59mm, seems a bit small to me but i don't know for sure.
then i suppose the spokes and bolt ring would look quite cool in satin black the lip polished and those crazy torx bolts replaced with allen bolts - 120!- they should look quite trick. They arn't split rims but apparently the bolts are screwed in.

it doesn't matter if it's a Morris Marina or a Toyota Celica - it's what you do with it that counts

I would love those. I'm sure that a wheel specialist could machine some maltese cross centers from billet as split rim centers but there are many many pound notes involved. Image Wheels could do it but even their standard range of billet centered wheels start at £242 per wheel in 15". I doubt very much they could do bespoke designs for that.
