Cancelled due to supposed rain. No rain. No bootfair No No No. You should have been with us at the vintage and 4x4 autojumble last weekend grizz, it rained torrentially overnight and managed to drizzle or rain for most of the Sunday, and it still went ahead Made some money too, which is always good 😁 Hopefully I will get to spend some cash tomorrow

Bootfair today……. Thankfully not, cancelled, despite rain overnight. Started with a bang, well lets hope it is not a boat anchor for £5.00 Same seller sold me a bag of nuts, bolts n washers for 50p and threw in some roll of nylon line off either a kite flyer or some other application, maybe someone will know. Free is good, and I will use it to just string out lines in the garden etc. 5HP Briggs and Stratton in 4 Stroke flavour, with centrifugal clutch and sprocket. Same seller had a load of site signs, mostly 10mph and one random other that I had to have at 50p each. Next up, a Hotwheels car for Craig, VW SP2 at £2.00 not cheap, but possibly not too common. Later I found this medics Jeep for 50p and had to have it. So other items included 3 more teapots for £2.50 to make Sally more bird nesting boxes. A pair of tyre pressure gauges for £1.00 Two little clamps for Craig £1.00 Novelty mug 50p Snap On toolbag £1.00 Not a lot of stuff, but if the motor runs, a winner of a day.

Limited number of stalls at both my local sales, but the first one had another chap (or maybe the same one) who went from "anything for a quid" to "free, take it all away" just as I was looking around. Snaffled a couple of PC keyboards, the second series of "Better Call Saul" on DVD (I haven't got the first series, or watched Breaking Bad yet, though I got series 1-3 of that from somewhere else either for free, or for a quid. Stocking up in case there's another lockdown.) But as well as that, I found myself looking through a tin of spanners, then thought "hang on, it's free, just grab the tin". All metric, but will be handy as spares. Stepped ring spanners go from 10mm to 18mm, then a handful of random combo and open-ended, another spark plug socket, a half-inch extension, a soldering iron, and random other bits. And a badge. Second sale didn't have anything worth buying, but it had started raining a little so some were leaving. Not a bad haul for no cash though.

So the motor got going…….
No boat anchor today then.

Massive bootfair but not a great result today. Small little Jeep, overpriced £1.00 2 knives to be sharpened for steak duties 20p each HARRY name £1.00 Pint glass 50p Unused BBQ grille for toaties £1.00 Strong gate hinges, pair £5.00 Flat gate hinges, pair £1.00 Mexican tequila doorstop £1.00 Teapots two each @ £1.00 Green teapot FREE Cat treat jar £1.00 Chicken sign for Mrs CraigRK £3.00 Remote controlled Ninja Turtles VW Bus £.00 CAT Bulldozer for Harry £2.00 Craig and his family, along with some other friends came over for birthday, new house and leaving celebrations. He helped me with the Rezin Rockit and took the tank off, plus convinced me to just just cut for now, the absolute mess of a home built wiring loom to the rear that had been threaded around the chassis Craig is a keen hobby 3D printer as well, and along with peteh1969 who did the programming and design, made me a couple of samples for the name tags. Mate Andy in Tulsa is still playing with the casting and getting the draft right on them.

Yet another Gunson Gastester, a Sony car stereo and a Dymo label maker. I'm sure that label machine is the one I saw a few weeks ago with a box full of label tapes - he wanted £15 and it wasn't worth it to me. This was £1, no label tapes, and when I asked about them, he appeared to know nothing about it. So either he's really forgetful, or I'm going mad. Stereo appears to not work on first test, which is a pity, but then it was £1 so no big deal. I like these because I can plug in a wired remote control stalk, which is good because the radio goes right at the bottom of the dash, out of reach. And then I found this in a skip this afternoon: Top and bottom were quite badly dented which caused clearance issues on the drawers, but a bit of modification with a hammer sorted that out.

Public holiday today, means we had a long weekend, which means two bootfairs, one yesterday and one today. Yesterday was massive, and delivered nothing for me, a few ornamental plates for Craigs new house and Sally got a very pretty teapot and milk jug and sugar pot for her own use. Today she had gone to do overtime. I was awake at 03.50 and ended up chatting with Dennis as I could not get back to sleep. Bootfair was much smaller, and again not really anything spectacular as I was really just looking for a Cherry Bomb exhaust, as I have seen at least two over time, usually around the £5.00 to £10.00 mark However, I did find a super sized wheel spanner/ or wheel brace for £2.00 that had to come home, as I have a new home in mind for it. And six new, unused coffee mugs, 50p each or £2.00 for all of them. Guess I paid £2.00 then. Same guy had the massive dice or is it die and the pretty wooden box. Box for Sally, and dice may become a gearknob on the Rezin Rockit. .

No boot sales for me for the last couple of weeks as I've been at car events, but the same skip that the toolbox further up came from gave this up, and I forgot to post it. It's only got one door, so I haven't fitted it. It had three shelves but only enough clips to hold one of them in place, so I made a few more after I took this photo, and now it's a handy shelf unit. It's largely full of junk that should be in the bin, but hey.

Bootfair was slim today, loads of junk that should be taken for lanfill. Craig got another Ninja Turtles VW bus for his random VW aircooled collection, as well as the Coca Cola drum. £3.50 Sally got an unused, like new picture frame and some motorbikes for Harry total £1.50 I got her a pair of coat hooks for £1.00 And I got myself a large naval flag for £2.50 (not yet sure what to do with it) .

Not much this week, considering both sales were a bit bigger due to the decent weather and the closeness of the end of the season. A working hot-glue gun, a 3/8" deep drive 1/4" drive socket (been looking for a cheap one for ages for a specific job), a nice little clamp thing, some double-ended studs that might be metric, and some locking wheel nuts that almost certainly don't fit my car. And (not pictured) a BT Youview box that will work perfectly happily as a Freeview recorder without a BT account. It's bigger and older than the one I've already got, but it seems to support Freeview HD channels so it'll be fine on the other TV, for those times when my recordings clash. And it was £2, and came with a BT wi-fi router.

Yes, it did remind me of school science lessons. I figured it would come in handy for holding something at some point, and a vertical stand isn't hard to sort out, much easier than the clamp part. I remember seeing someone selling a similar one at Race Retro a few years ago, but at a hideous price.

I can imagine it being helpful, depending on its size for stuff like holding a piece of work while welding etc.

It’s a retort clamp. They can be quite pricey. Typical good quality old scientific equipment can be quite valuable. Things like that get snapped up by ‘interior designers’ and used to hold flowers and lamps etc
