It’s a retort clamp. They can be quite pricey. Typical good quality old scientific equipment can be quite valuable. Things like that get snapped up by ‘interior designers’ and used to hold flowers and lamps etc I can see exactly how that happens. The flag I bought over the weekend will be going the “for sale to highest bidder” route as well, only because Nicola, my ex showed me the silly money they make.

Yes, lots of that kind of stuff gets snapped up for all sorts of usage, denying people the chance to use it for the purpose it was intended. I blame Drew Pritchard myself.

Today I really did not want to go to the bootfair, as I only got about 4 hrs sleep in broken episodes, and was tired from the time on the chassis yesterday. But a 4.30 am alarm had me awake, and up just after 5.00 So I went anyway. First blood to craigrk wife, and second blood too. Plates for their new home in Shropshire which is known as The Stables. £3.50 for the plates. She asked me to keep an eye out for a less common item……..got lucky. The rest of the bootfairs bounty was collected within the first half of the field. Picture frame, unused £2.00 Socks 50p Small yankee candle 20p Seeing eye 50p Pile up sanding discs (I still have the attachments) £1.00 35 foot or 10 meter rubber reinforced airline £2.00 Large wooden Buddha for Sallys garden £4.00 Ornate cat for the garden £2.00 Plastic coat hangers £1.00 Stick of rock £- Free So ultimately not too bad. Airline alone made it worthwhile for me.

Arminghall autojumble today in Norwich, got a large tabletop saw, a mk 2 Cortina drivers sill and still came home £150 up I love days like these......😀 Sounds like a good haul, I even managed to have a good day last weekend at Aylesford Priory Car show and AJ, never been before, so I left home far to early, and got in before it opened!!!, not on the lookout for much, BUT came out smiling, Came across a fella selling his words "Old Cr-p" from his rallying days, nearly filled my bag in ten mins of looking, Magard style Alloy twin webber throttle linkage, complete £2.00!!!!!, 3 genuine Ford red plastic clutch pipes, 1.00 !!! each... New crossflow engine mounts 2.00 each, and lots of other "smalls" for pennies, and he knocked £2.00 off cos it was early and he had no change, Happy days Walked round a bit more, theres a stall holder selling what looks like more like boot fair fodder, everybody was walking past, but I stopped, as I usually do, for a good scan around, the man started talking to me, asked me what I had car wise, looked a bit blank when I said Austin A35 Van, but Paid attention when I said Ford Classic 315, "Oh the Ford Classic stuff is in a box over there, OK I was initially a bit disappointed when the stuff was Not for a Ford Classic 315, BUT was highly delighted to find bags with Rally Design all over them, there was what looked like a full hydraulic concentric clutch release kit for a type 9, not sure if it was all there, but it looked complete, no good to me, as I have just converted my Type 9 to hydraulic, (BUMHATS) saw another bag in this box, said Quaife all over it, had a quick peek inside, A brand New Type 9 quick shift lever, How Much mate? is £40 too much? give you £30, ended up with it for £35. got home and checked the price, from Quaife, £185.00 plus Vat and Postage...... RESULT!!!!!!!!

yup, makers mark and tensile strengths, 8.8 being pretty typical high tensile fasteners, 10.9 higher grade, different material spec.

Couple of bargains today Complete first year of street machine in binder. He wanted £2, I gave him £3 as I felt bad. I needed a water trap regulator, bought the Clarke one (well, it looks the same as the Clarke ones) for £5, then later bought the box of stuff just for all the 1/2 fittings. This box included 3 devilbiss reg/filters. I assume they were all set up as first stage. One has a first stage element, one had a broken first stage element, the third I can't open yet untill I can be bothered to take it to the vice. I want a second stage coalescing filter too, bit elements for these are more expensive than a new Clarke one. It looks like the housings should be modular, can you add and remove sections? If so, how! The complete box of stuff was £10. Seems I'm over run with first stage filters now! Edit, got it open. One of the devilbiss ones has what looks like a new first stage filter, the other two ha s remnants of broken first stage filters. I assume could just leave the regs wide open on those and fit second, and even third, stage filters in them. Expensive though! Would be nice to get them in one block like a proper 3 stage, that's assuming they do coke apart like I assume they do.
