'Time is a flat circle. Everything we've ever done or will do, we're gonna do over and over and over again.'
The plan was to save up a bit for and buy something that was nice and clean, something I could look after and enjoy. In fact I even made a pledge to myself that I wouldn't rush out and buy the first thing I found. In the words of most of my school teachers "I've let myself down". Maybe I'd doomed myself from the outset, I couldn't wait I was endlessly checking eBay and Gumtree and AutoTrader and various 'for sale' sections on a variety of forums. You could say it was inevitable, that as soon as I found something, anything jelly mould shaped within my meagre budget that I would be parting with my money.
In fact it only took 26 minutes from bortaf placing the advert, for me to PM him. Lets just say I'm a weak, weak man and before I could allow my brain to resist I'd already booked a one-way train ticket to London to pick the car up.
So after a very early start on Saturday morning I found myself on a hour long bus journey, followed by 5 hour train journey, this coupled with a bag of tangfastic, £6.99 worth of sushi (from Wasabi - highly recommended outlet), one can of monster and a litre bottle of water, found me stood eagerly outside Bush Hill Park train station waiting to be picked up in a Ford Sierra.
After some customary RR hospitality from Rob aka Bortaf (thanks for the biscuits and coffee, it was a pleasure to met and do business with you) I was heading back home.
I elected to take the M3/A303 route home the drive may use slightly more fuel than the M4/M5 combo, but at least it provides some interesting bits of black top. The car was faultless, okay it might not be a looker in fact it's pretty tatty, but it drives superbly and put a massive grin on my face. Can't wait to put my stamp on it!
