The best receipt for work I found was £38 for a brake bulb. The bulb itself cost 80p, the rest was labour! my local volvo dealer fit the blubs for free they just charge the price of the bulb. They have done this on both my parents s40 and mates 740. When i worked for veedub i got a bollocking for fitting bulbs and wiper blades for free as aparently i wasnt skilled enough and i was taking work away from the service dept. ;D too bleedin right oh and i have a recepit that came with my s40 for £21.00,40p fpr a fuse and £20.60 labour for fitting it ;D

it doesn't matter if it's a Morris Marina or a Toyota Celica - it's what you do with it that counts

Whenever you encounter a "BS" problem with a garage make an instant written notice to the management. I had an issue like this with Kwik Fit back in 1990/1991. Had I made the complaint when it happened something would have been done about it (according to Tom Farmer that was anyway....). As it was, I complained a year later when I decided to check & replace the parts that they advised were defective. Upon inspection of the parts there was nothing whatsoever wrong with them....... I was told that the brake pads were down to the metal, the brake discs were dangerously worn out and the rear calipers were leaking - and that the car should not be driven under any circumstances Since that day I've never set foot in a retail outlet for servicing of any kind

Forgot to say but one of the great advantages of being Stateside is the extremely low cost of replacement car parts.
Just last month I replaced all of the brake discs & pads on our Nissan 240SX. I even selected the most expensive (and recommended) brake pads from the 240SX site.
Total cost shipped was about 60 quid!!!!

SWMBO took her Fezza into our local main Ford dealer for its annual service last year, they called her at work and told her that the 'rear lights weren't working', and wanted £48 to rectify them.
She called me and I found it a bit strange, seeing as I'd followed her to work the morning before (we work one junction apart on the M5) and they were fine.
So she gave me the job number, and I called them. They told me that one of the number plate bullbs had blown!! The convo went thus:
"But you told my wife that her rear lights weren't working"
"Yes, it was a number plate bulb, she told us to go ahead"
"Yes, but you put the fear of God in her, she thought you meant they had all failed, that's why she told you to go ahead"
"Yeah, well we've done it now"
"Yeah? Well take the new bulbs out, and put the blown ones back in, I'll get some from my local motor factors and change them when I get home from work, because she's not paying £48 for two f***ing bulbs" (sound of me pressing the 'end call' button)
When she went back armed with the info I'd given her, she quite calmly paid the bill (which had suddenly gone down by £47) and informed them that this particular Fiesta was the EIGHTH Ford she'd bought from them in a row, and after this debacle it would be the last.
Twunts.

Rmad what type of stereo is it, if you have the serial number for it I might be able to get it for you. It's the standard Volvo double din radio/cassette, an SC700 I think. I'll try and find a serial number. edit: Got the code...sending you PM!
