I'm sure this has been mentioned before on this good site, but I need some clarification because I'm lazy \ thick.
Are the Volvo B series engines derived from a British \ American unit of earlier vintage? I only ask because the engine sockets are Imperial and the rest of the car seems to be Metric.
My mate Andy is convinced the engines were bought in and redeveloped somewhere down the line, a bit like the way the Triumph slant four got redeveloped by Ricardo and Saab to go in the 99 \ 900.
I didn't think that was the case, and my official Volvo history doesn't mention anything of the sort.... if it is though my money's on an old British engine.... why did Volvo, as a Swedish manufacturer use SU carbs as opposed to the Weber \ Zenith \ Pierburg \ Solex axis of evil (realises B18A'd 'zon has a Zenith 36VN, I meant the 122S).
Secondly.....will a B20 drop straight in instead of my B18, and can I still use my HS6s with it or am I into Stromberg territory?
