What is the most retro town in England? My vote is for my home town sunny old Saafend in Essex. Always had a huge custom car and alternative vehicle following here and most streets have something interesting in them. For example, my street has all my stuff ;D, 3 doors away has a Mk4 Zodiac, bit further down is an AMC Ambassador convertible. This is nothing unusual, many streets round here are like it. If its not old cars its scooters (proper ones) bikes, trikes, you name it its here! Whats your nomination?

Not really a nomination, but I'd gone round to a friend's house for sunday lunch earlier today, and when I parked the Amazon outside her place I ended up in front of a slightly scruffy Moggy Minor, which was in turn next to a TR7 convertible. A rather pleasant surprise , and there seems to be quite a few well used Minors around that part of town now.

I don't know about TOWNS... where I live has comparitvely few old things...
BUT within 100 yards or so of our house lives: Multiple Wolseley 6/110 & Ford Zodiacs Mk1 Capri 3000GT Triumph Toledo & MG Magnette Granada Coupe Mk1 Triumph Vitesse Another Triumph Vitesse
Plus countless 'borderline' cases (Jags, Range Rovers etc)
Like there is some kind of old-tat gravitiational pull ;D

Southend could well be a competitor, loads of cool stuff lurking round them there parts.
Also i find whenever i go up colchester way i always see at least one or two things of interest without even trying.

On my road alone, there is: 1 VW beetle (mine!) 3 bay window VW vans (1 of which is mine!) 1 T25 VW van 1 old shape LHD BMW B12 (the big 6.0 saloon thing, in LHD with a reg plate B12 something) 1 1960s fiat 500 2 NSU RO80s 1 splitscreen camper Round the corner there is a 1920s bentley, I know of a ford model A within 2 minutes walk, morris minors, ford cortinas, more beetles, austin 1100 and numerous others. Within 5 minutes drive there is a 1 owner from new 1959 morris minor traveller. It's got a full MOT and is in very nice condition, oh how I would love to own it

Southend has a bit of a cal look and home-made 3 wheeler (rat look, mad max stylee not del-boy) scene going. Oh and quite a few 2cvs up Leigh way. I think there's a Mehari lurking there somewhere.

South London, Balham / Streatham area South London is pretty good - I'm up the road in Brixton and on my road there's a Minor, a Marina, a Mk2 Capri, a Dolomite, a BMW 2002 and a couple each of W123s, Beetles and Campers. I saw FOUR fintail Mercs on the five minute walk to Tesco yesterday, too...

I was in front of a Mehari the other day, by Thames Drive.

I used to live in Newquay, which is full of old motors. 95% of them are aircooled dubs though, and you kinda get a bit blind to them after a while...
Where I live now, my car is the oldest on my street by a considerable margin... zzzz...

Dewsbury is probably the least retro town in the country, most of the cars on here I thought were exctinct before I found this site. So many metal yards and so many hi-abs willing to pick up for free.
