Sup guys. Happy remembrance day/weekend. Sat in the corner of our workshop there is a Volvo B230ft engine with the big pre cat turbo, it was free, but needs stripping and cleaning rebuilding etc. Now i guess sweden is the best bet for parts and techniques, but they speak sewdish, so is there anyone in the uk that have any tips? or no where to go. This is the car it'll be going in... This isn't mine... Nor is that... This is...

The Volvo Owners' Club would be a good place to start, especially if you want UK specific advice. Many modified and tuned rwd cars on there, and they are usually pretty welcoming of projects using Volvo engines. Also the Turbobricks forum will have loads of info, but may not be as useful for recommendations of specific suppliers as it's USA based.

brickboards and the VOC as mentioned above are the best sources of info, and i know there are a few Volvo fans on here that do quite interesting things with those lumps...

nice project!!
1st, increase boost to ~12psi (i think, internet will provide exact numbers) 2nd, improve breathing, but no doubt you'll be doing that anyway
this should see 200-220bhp ish
3rd, big exhaust - as above 4th, 15T turbo from 850 T5 + injectors = 250bhp
5th, clutch, gearbox, cam, flow the head, bigger intercooler, bigger turbo etc etc. >400bhp
Basically a reasonable amount can be had for almost free, bit more for not much and then sh*t loads if you wanna spend money. Enjoy!!

Basically, as above. This: 1st, increase boost to ~12psi (i think, internet will provide exact numbers) will have you painting number 11s everywhere, it'll be plenty for that little thing until you get it on the road for a while. I wouldn't bother upgrading to bigger turbos right away - you want to leave room for when you get bored

Before whacking the boost up you should sort out Stage 0 if you want low-risk improvements. Redblocks are tough but if it's high-mileage and poorly maintained it'll pop like any other engine. Then most of this is correct www.strikeengine.com/volvo-parts-tuning/volvo-700-900-turbo-tuning-guide.htmlThe T5 injectors aren't an improvement over the Bosch green tops you've (probably?) got in terms of flow, they're just popular for people swapping a NA to turbo due to not having to fit ballast packs. Google any injector part numbers to see what they flow.
