Hi all, My Volvo 240 GL, White estate, Auto, H44Y UYA was stolen in broad daylight today the 12th of Oct between 3pm and 8pm from Herne Hill south London. It's pretty distinctive as it has white wall tyres and chrome wheel trim. If its gone to the banger track I hope it crumples. Absolutely gutted. To top it off my gprs/gps tracker is waiting for me in the post office.... Obviously if anyone sees it or gets offered anything can you message me. I fitted a drivers armrest and a US voltmeter into it too. Any scrappys....I'll match the price! The thing was mint. Gutted. Reward gladly given Biscuit

What ever way that went it was caught on camera. Tulse Hill, Brixton, Dulwich, The Oval, Camberwell. It's all on camera so it was 100% seen on camera. Had this had been parked on a yellow line the council would be more then glad to show you but because it's been nicked you probably have no chance. It's bulshit and pluckin annoying.
Personally I think it was towed
Hope you get this back matey

Cheers. Yeah, looks like it was towed. Was parked under a tree and all the leaves that were around the tyres were still there, like it had been lifted straight up. Got some curse word balls on them, there was a party with around 40 people going on next door at the time. No one saw nowt. Checked the local scrapyards, no joy.

Check the local pounds. Most of them are fenced so you can see. How long was it parked? If long enough a retard/traffic warden only has to ticket it then the lorry will be on its way to tow it. They had my escort for 3 days before they contacted me.

Thanks guys. I can't see how it would have been the council as I had a residents permit and it went on a saturday which is unrestricted parking anyway. I'll give them a call tomorrow anyway. My road is covered by southwark...Holmdene Avenue. Cheers for the tip off on the cameras, are they just parking enforcement or would they be spotting passing traffic too? Who knows. I'll try both Lambeth and Southwark tomorrow. Would have thought it'd have come up on the TRACE check though if they'd towed it. Spoke t a local mechanic who deals with volvos a few weeks back and he told me to "put a chain on it!" as his had just been nicked and he knew of around ten in the area that had gone in the last couple of years. Don't know if they are being lifted all over the country or if someone in south London has a real penchant for a turbo brick. He reckoned it was for export but everyone else reckons scrappy or track. I'll try that one in Grove park too, cheers for the tip. If (WHEN!!!) it comes back or I get another I think I actually will put a chain on it and park next to very big trees...

I was looking at them, also looking at the small ones with the hard wire kit, may get one of each.

Done all I can. Spoke to another Volvo garage in west Norwood and he said they have been disappearing like mad in the last year. One guy even just popped to get a pint of milk, comes out and his 240 was gone. The mechanic is convinced they are being exported. I know people can ship cars to Africa and sell them for 3 times the uk value plus the shipping fee. But I still find it hard to believe. I know it's a hot topic on these forums and from just browsing through the previous threads I don't want to start another free for all slanging match but I have just noticed it's the World Banger racing finals this weekend coming...no ones gonna convince me it's not (if only part of it) gonna be there. I can't believe that with at least ten of the same model been stolen in a three mile radius no one has thought it should be looked into. curse word

that sucks bigtime, if there are so many in such a small radius/area it's almost certain it's either export (on request) or for parts sadly. I'll keep my eyes open if someone offers parts on the Volvo forums i hang out on (couple of which are foreign)
